Don't forget Brian Scott. Our offensive schemes and play calling are elementary, predictable, uncreative and awful.

We average like 32 points per game. Without our high powered offense, we wouldnt have won more than 1 game this year.

Usually I think you have good posts, but you are delusional if you think we had a "high powered offense." Beat up a Pop Warner team for 77 points and had a lucky day against Va. Tech. This offense was awful most of the season and good maybe for for 2 games.
No reason to listen to the post game show. I'm sure, as always, BW will say we were just one play away from winning this game. The players played extremely hard, we were almost there.
Just extremely pathetic. Glad season is over. I just doubt next year will be any better. Time to make a head coach change.....
So Rice gets a their first FBS win. I wonder how we would stack up against Prairie View.

At best he is a mediocre FBS QB. He is only useful if he does not turn the ball over. We cannot be a bowl team with him at QB. Simply a place holder until someone better can come along. Need a graduate transfer QB or pray that Wolff can play as a freshman.

I will chalk this up as a reactionary post to a poor game. Really odd either way.

On Offense
Next season we are well set at RB. If we can adequately replace Nick Clarke, we should be at worst, just ok on the OL. At QB we still have LaRussa and Drayton Arnold. Word is that Jonah Fitzgerald shows tremendous promise, and Hayden Wolff may be our best QB recruit ever. I do not expect Steven Williams to be in the mix.
So, the real question is whether we can get the needed play from the WR position. We will need height, and Nigel Fitzgerald may be the key.

Defense is in complete chaos. Tackling needs to improve, and that is on the coaches.
We complained about soft coverage all season, but that seems to have been a compensation. IMHO, our real problem is a severe lack of team speed
Unless we get some JUCOs or huge Freshman surprises, next year's defense looks to be worse than this year's 03-banghead.
I refuse to listen to Wilder's excuses and selling us on his plans that next year we will be much improved (new year, new stadium, blah, blah, blah). Teams start after us (Charlotte) and are better than we are at this point ..... best start up program my butt ..... a fitting end to a disgusting season and the worst coaching that could be imaginable. I'm off here .... sign me out disappointed, disgusted, and dismayed.
I wonder if this game wasn't predetermined before it even started. I didn't think much about games being rigged before but this feels like an obvious "team quit" to give Rice seniors a good senior day.

We scored:

VT- 49
ECU- 35
FAU- 33
MTsU- 17
Marshall-20
WKy- 37
North Texas- 34

The offense was nowhere close to awful, especially after BL took over.

Blake La Russa is NOT a good QB as much as you would like to believe it. He could be adequate with a strong OL and good running game but we have neither for the foreseeable future. He is not the kind of QB who can lead a team with his arm. Don't be deluded by one miracle game vs. Va. Tech, whose defense game it to us on a silver platter.

He could be better and more effective with a strong offensive coordinator and a better and more complex play book.

He lead us many games without a running game. Forget Vt, what about North texas, wKY? Even in some of the losses, he played well while defense let us down....marshall, FAU, ECU.

We also have a seriously underutilized giant tight end in Donta Anthony. Why he doesn't get more looks is beyond me.
The oline is terrible. BL is not that good but not bad either. He takes a beating every game. Our run defense and offensive line are so bad it’s not even funny

Geiger always seem to do well on the first 5 carries, like the D doesn't think we'll actually give him the ball and they have to adjust.

After that, stuffed at the line.

Every game.

He is adequate if he doesn't turn the ball over and the OL plays well. Can't count on the latter. He is not a play maker himself.

Agree, and would add he's the coach for ODU's likely first draft pick. Not sure you can let him go this year.
