1. Was nice to see the Rockets dominate a team that they should have dominated. CMU is quite possibly the worst FBS team in the country...and that’s not good for a MAC that already isn’t terribly strong at the top.

2. The CMU coaching staff should be ashamed of themselves. I had a great view of that 3rd quarter fracus, and there were quite a few guys wearing maroon jackets who didn’t try very hard at all to separate their players or push them back to their sideline. Shameful. And #11 for CMU should by a lotto ticket, because he was very fortunate not to get tossed along with his 2 teammates.

3. Rocket D played inspired, and Rocket O stayed out of its own way enough. Still some bad decisions by Peters throughout the game, but he got away with them.

4. While it will be nice to get another bowl game, we won’t be playing teams like Kent State or CMU.
Feels like you guys will go to the Bahamas. There hadn’t been a repeat visit there yet, and Ohio and EMU were both there recently.
This season is a tale of two teams. We are like a school yard bully. We can beat up on the weaker teams, but can't take a punch in the nose when we play the stronger teams. We have no response.

Looks like our best win is Nevada who is 7-4. Not sure who is a weaker 7-5, us or WMU.

Bowl season scares me. I wouldn't buy a plane ticket, but would watch with apprehension at home.

Agreed!
good game, especially to send off the Seniors, still too many turnovers and stupid penalties for me but team got the job done that was needed, and nice showing by fans with 15,000+ attendance, not all bad all considered. Guess we wait now for bowl assignment. Decent good overall season, especially offense, too bad NIU game cost team badly.
Did Cody Thompson catch a pass at all today? I thought it was nice gesture by having him return punts. I also thought it was a nice gesture having (11) seniors all line up for the last play. Peters kept throwing to Cody into double and triple coverage. Can't figure that one out.

2 receptions.
Cody with 2 catches for 26 yards.

Sorry, H20ville. You beat me to it.

Not that long ago Campbell left us. Anybody think Candle will do the same?

Someone would offer him a job?
I realize he hasn’t seen first team defenses, but McCrimmon is averaging over 9 ypc for his career.

Why would anybody want to hire a HC that gets blown out against teams with equal or better talent? We lost every competitive game with the exception of Nevada. We beat up on the bottom feeders of the MAC. Overall a disappointing season. If we beat a good team in a bowl, it will be a decent year. Hopefully the staff treats the bowl game as a real game and not just an exhibition.

Agree, this is the only outcome where I’d be willing to say that we were marginally successful this year.

I’m sticking with my prediction that Candle is here for the next couple seasons. The body of work this season isn’t good enough to attract attention beyond perhaps the AAC, and most of those schools aren’t in his recruiting territory/experience. I think next season we take a step backwards as we re-tool the D, establish a QB (no, I don’t think anyone is the clear choice at the moment), and hopefully build a more effective O line. That will all take time & young players...so, the season after that, I could see another Rocket MAC championship, and THEN Candle will be gone.
I was very disappointed in CMU. Not so much that they were bad, but their behavior. That bunch is worse than Buffalo ever was.

If Candle can fix the OL and has a QB that can pass at least reasonable well we can have a very good offense next year.
I'm sure Eli Peters is a great guy, but I don't know if he can improve enough by next year to compete for the starting job. When he throws a pick, it's right on the numbers, though.

As far as a bowl, if we draw a good team it's gonna be a long day. A lot of mediocre teams get bowl eligible, so maybe we'll draw one where we can have an interesting game. Would be funny if we drew Arkansas State again.

On his pick it looked like he had an open guy who fell. Ball passed right over a fallen UT receiver. One disadvantage of attending is by the time you think to look at the board, the one replay from one angle has already played. I wasn’t faulting him on that one.
It's being reported that the CMU coach has been fired. They did look awful today.

I have a suspicion that letting Cody return some punts was about giving him some exposure to any pro teams thinking about him. I actually liked the 2-returner look that Toledo used on punts today & hope we see that in the bowl game.

And I agree about Peters. I’ll chalk it up to relative inexperience, but he never looks off his primary receiver & throws the ball that direction no matter what the coverage. Could be a really interesting Spring practice for the QBs.
