mention of Houston for the Maryland job this morning on the sports junkies. Vadlez saying "terps should clean house and bring in that donk from JMU"
I seriously doubt he'd take it. Just due to the controversy.
They can clean house and they take Everett Withers .. Houston will not be going to that disaster of a football program !!

A young going places fcs coach not taking a BIG head coaching job because of ()___________ any fill in the blank response is crazy 03-drunk

Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State or Elon, Norfolk State, Maine?

If Houston is what we say he is, the controversy is a reason to follow the progression 10X.

I believe that after this season, they will promote Matt Canada to full time HC. I’ve also read articles that say if they choose to go another route, Alabama OC Mike Locksley is the first choice due to his ties to the program.

I’m not worried about the Maryland job.
Even though Houston would be a good hire, their board would probably be too stubborn to do it considering they wanted to keep Durkin after that mess.

Heard that this morning.

Three weeks ago they were talking with John Feinstein and saying what a great fit he would be for UNC. Now I'm not a huge Feinstein fan, but that he agreed with them and seemed to be very knowledgeable about what he accomplished at JMU was a little concerning.

I think Houston is known across the FBS college landscape. I'm afraid he's going to get some offers he won't be able to refuse.

UNC with his Carolina ties makes sense. I could also see why UMD with their culture issues could be very interested although I think they will likely stick with Matt Canada. That took a chance on Mark Duffner who accomplished a lot at Holy Cross many years ago. Many of the Alumni might still remember that and not want an FCS coach.

I'm on record saying Houston is the best Coach in JMU history in any sport. Perfoect fit for JMU and vice versa. That said I'm not sure how much success a rigid Mike Houston would have at a power 5 conference.

There is no way in the world I could see that happening. His first two years as head coach at New Mexico he went 2-22. His third year (of a six year contract) he got canned due to multiple off the field issues.

There is no way UMD could bring in a coach with that resume with the issues they have had.

I'm a distant UMD fan and would carry a pitchfork for that hire.

Houston would take the Maryland job if offered. The security Houston has a JMU is valuable but a turning down a P5 HC job, no way and nobody could blame him.

The only job which concerns me is the UNC job. If the Tarhills lose this Saturday against NC State Larry Fedora gets fired. He may get fired even if he beats UNC's rival.

As many other posters have stated, disagree.
Md is a dysfunctional mess. the President is in transition and they have a weak AD.

That said, how do you turn down a Big10 job in a major city? Are you going to tell MH turns down the chance to coach against Michigan, OSU and PSU every year? You are crazy. they have the facilities. MD alums have money and if Kevin Plank gets behind the hire, it will not be turned down by MH
I don't know where he'll go next, but there's no denying MH is a fantastic football coach and as a fan my absolute favorite coach we've ever had.
If he ever leaves, there's no question he's put this program in a better position than we were before he got here. This would be a job that a lot of great coaches would love to have. Plus the buyout would be significant and would only help us in getting our next coach.
Hopefully we have him for a long time so for now I'm just going to enjoy him while we can.

I have been saying this all along. Coach Houston is a huge UNC fan and tweets about it during college basketball season. He’s from there and it makes a lot of sense, unfortunately for us, that this would be the direction they decide to go if they want to build a program.

Hopefully not the case, but just my opinion.
Also, in the previous two years he’s had playoff games and a national championship to get ready for during college football silly season. Hopefully we make another deep playoff run.
Houston would fit right in with the a-holes at Maryland.

Well you're full of piss and vinegar. What? No excitement on the Maine board today? Go back to south Canada.
