Daily Five: Group Of Five Teams In New Year's Six Bowl Race
https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/11/...-bowl-race

5. UAB Blazers (8-1)

It still can’t be blown off.

UAB wasn’t playing college football two years ago.

After an amazing comeback season, the Blazers have been even better, ripping through everything in their path over the last six weeks by allowing seven points or fewer in five of their last six games.

The ugly 47-24 loss at Coastal Carolina stings, but that doesn’t matter if the Blazers can come up with a shocker.

They’ve been rolling through the weak and the sad, but they do have a win over Tulane and a solid victory over North Texas. It all comes down to November 17th.

At Texas A&M.

This defense is just good enough on the right day to at least make it a fight. The Aggies will be coming off a date against Ole Miss, and it has LSU to finish things up, so UAB has to rise up in the sandwich game moment.

Win that, and the Blazers will have something on the resume that none of the other options for the New Year’s Six game can boast.

UAB would still have to get the win at Middle Tennessee, and come up with the Conference USA title, but the committee would swoon if it can pull this off.
Baby steps. It's a one game season. This week USM
Beat USM.
If only we had the Coastal game back...

Don't think it matters much. Still need to win all of ours and see some others lose; that would be the same case at 9-0 instead of 8-1.

Right now, show out on Saturday. Bring your friends. Bring your casual acquaintances and your enemies, too.

I'm afraid if we had won the CC game, we may have dropped one that was more important. This has been a different team since that terrible Saturday night in South Carolina.
It’s nice to think about, but we aren’t getting that game over UCF.

They have to play three good teams: Cincy, USF and Houston. They could easily lose two of those.

Problem then becomes the team(s) that beat UCF.
The attention we are getting won't hurt recruiting one bit!! I'm excited to see us in a big game atmosphere again. I think this USM game will be similar to UNT in the crowd size and involvement!

WHITE OUT!!

If we were unbeaten, it would still be "They didn't play anybody", and we'd still be a number of slots behind UCF. Don't underestimate the anti-G5 prejudice.
