Just finished watching the Chris Mathews Hardball Show featuring Beto ORoutke at UH.

Raised question in my mind why Rice did not host such an event and get more involved with the community.?

Seems like a chance to gain some much - needed publicity for Rice.

Just sayin’.

Rice hosted a Beto event last week.
Rice was going to host Beto at Willy's but the event moved to a church near Rice to accomodate more people. I guess the RMC, Tudor and Sheperd were not available.
Dan Crenshaw was on campus yesterday too.
I think also the 2nd Cruz-O'Rourke debate was supposed to be at UH but wasn't that the one cancelled due to the Kavanaugh hearings? Maybe Beto felt he owed UH an appearance to make up for it?

Rice could probably use a better auditorium for special speakers. I know they can use Tudor but where else on campus is there? Do they use any of the music school's stages for an event like that? What is the largest venue in the Baker Institute available?

The only place we have that's really big is Tudor Fieldhouse. I think Stude Hall in the Shepherd School would be next.

We have needed a big auditorium for decades.

Both Sheperd and the BRC have large auditoriums, each capable of holding at least a thousand.
FYI, here's the Tresher article on the Rice vist.

+1

Some of us recall lobbying past Rice leaders to build a multi-
purpose arena for special events, graduation when it rains, other full campus gatherings, sports etc. to no avail.
Too bad President Trump did not have his Houston visit at Rice stadium like President Kennedy. That would have been historical, two Presidents at Rice.

03-lmfao You think Leebron would make that offer? Not a chance.
Actually numerous presidents have visited Rice. George H.W. Bush hosted the G-5 summit at Rice while in office...Carter, George W. Bush and Clinton (I think) have all visited (though not while they were in office.)

And Obama later this month.
I was referring to Rice stadium. It would have been great publicity to see the stadium full again like when President Kennedy was here.

Oh man, even Baylor wouldn't do something that stupid.
