The Battle for the East!!

UCF favored by 10

Two years ago. Had forgotten we were down 25-7 in the 3rd quarter. But this win propelled Temple to the American Championship. Here's to another great Owl ending!

One man's pleasure is another mans's pain. We should never have lost that game. That is what happens when you play "not to lose" and take your foot off the gas. Temple is trending upwards this season and I hope we don't take you lightly or the same thing may happen. Should be a good game.

the odd benefit of losing that game is it kept USF out of the AAC championship game and thus kept their championship winless streak alive. 04-cheers

Plus we beat USF! This year it could be a close game, or the Knights light us up like last year. And I doubt UCF is taking Temple lightly or looking ahead. I believe y’all going to be focused especially trying to show the naysayers up. Maybe a little rusty from the bye; maybe Milton a little rusty from almost 3 weeks off; even so the Owls will need to play A++ ball to have a chance.

I prefer this great last minute victory including "the catch" by J.J. Whorton . Always a fun game

I saw it in person and still can’t believe it! The throw was almost as impressive Bortles was nailed on his carry through. Temple and UCF have had some wild fun games. Here’s to another one Thursday night!
Both teams are undefeated in conference play. Winner leads the East.
Vegas Insider has no point spread and list Milton and Armstead as questionable. Any news on Milton? I thought he was available against ECU. I do expect Armstead to play no idea if he’s 100%.

It’s been pretty hush hush about Milton.

We expect him to play.

Good post to start the chatter about the game. 10 pt spread may be about right. We lost to BC by 10 I think, in their building. Temple will have to play a mistake free game and score TD's (and not FG's) in the red zone to have a chance. And of course, play tough D.

Remember, that is the game when Milton hurt his ankle, TWICE and he was never the same QB after that for the rest of the season

UCF's offense just "stopped" after he got hurt.

That is why it was important for D Mack to get a complete game with a win under his belt. We may need him. Who knows. He may start. 03-shhhh

That sounds about right. Will take a huge effort by the Owls and some luck to beat the Knights.
I was there for the game in 2016 and we just let Temple run right on down the field. Talk about disbelief.

This year, Temple's run defense is suspect but overall their unit is a good one and one of the betters ones we will face. I suspect we will ground and pound until ya'll stack the box or bring the safeties up close and then we'll try and burn you deep.

Our run defense isn't great either but our DBs are really good. I expect this to a close game until we pull away in the second half. All we need is a 3-4 stops on defense. (This is assuming Milton starts, I have no idea if Heupel takes off the training wheels for Mack and allows him to throw).

Rain chances have gone down a bunch so environment will be good.
Bump

Does there need to be an official ***us v. them*** thread started?

I believe Milton will play and probably at or close to 100%. Maybe start a little rusty, but he will be a big problem for Temple. Don’t spy him he’ll burn you; spy him some other fast guy will burn you. Our offense is inconsistent and will depend on Armsteads health and how Russo does out of the bye. This is certainly the best team the Owls will have faced all season.
The way Temple has played lately, I see an Owl victory on Thursday.

Or UCF feels disrespected by the playoff committee and plays a statement game. I believe if the Knights win this it would be over their highest rated opponent to date, at least on Colley.

Pitt might be higher. They're only 4-4 vs Temple's 5-3, but have played four teams currently ranked (Notre Dame, UCF, Penn St, and Syracuse), and they won one of them.

But yeah, if not our best opponent, the second best.
