Kind of a surprising game. Rice and ZuNT are tied at 17-17 in midddle 3rd Q.
UNT was favored by 30! May have to turn this one on!
What channel is it on?
ESPN+
The game has basically been even similar to the UTEP game. Fine is running for his life on every pass play, sooner or later he's gunna get hit very hard
27-17 UNT start of 4th. UNT just scored on a 95 yard drive.
I guess we know Rice's defensive plan. Hit the quarterback at every opportunity even when it's late. They seem glad to trade 15 yards for a late hit on Fine.
Ya fine is getting killed at every opportunity
I read that Rice is playing 20 freshman, if they amhad any kind of offense this game would be tied. Now UNT is pulling away.
Wow congrats UNT. The refs made sure you'd win this one. 4 ridiculous personal fouls on Rice (and 1 legitimate one). Meanwhile nothing on UNT.

Yeah well it just worked for UNT. Phantom turnover is confirmed on instant replay - never mind the late hit on #22.

And your quarterback got hurt. Karma for the late hits on Fine. Don't blame the refs. Your team has earned their personal fouls.

...Is this serious? There have been like two legitimate late hits on him. The early hit that knocked his helmet off was probably a penalty and the low hit was a clear penalty (although if you watch the replay you'll see that the defender stumbled...still a penalty, though). Every other hit has been clean, unlike that last hit after the fumble.

And who actually says "karma" when a guy is down on the field?

I agree with this. I thought the "low hit" on Fine was BS. That rusher clearly stumbled before getting there. And the "unsportsmanlike" conduct" call on Rice's #71 was COMPLETE BS!

Sacking a QB is getting absurd. You can't hit a QB high, and you can't hit him low either. WTH? Maybe we should give them a flag belt and play flag ball.
That game was UGLY until the end. Rice is clearly improving. All those personal fouls by Rice were crushing for them.

Didn't Rice play a ton of freshman playing in their first or second games? I dunno if they are improving that much just might becplaying different players. Young players. But ya you guys made them pay for those penalties
Mason Fine is a tough dude, but I wouldn't doubt it if a team goes after him. I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised

Thanks for the neutral perspective. I’m usually very objective when watching bad officiating, and what i tell myself is that usually bad officiating evens out. Sure didn’t happen that way this afternoon.

Ok, I was actually telling a couple others at the game today that it was the worst officiating in the 121-year history of football. That was an exaggeration. It was only the worst of this century.

Stepping back from that ledge I did expect Rice to be competitive today but I know very few others did. Glad we were able to open some eyes today and play some inspired ball. We still have some glaring holes but I feel like we are finally starting to gel.

Maybe we’ll actually be favored against UTEP now...

High ... low ... doesn't matter when you hit them after the ball is thrown. The call was correct.

No, it wasn't. It was just one of a series of really bad officiating calls that the referees inexplicably made against Rice late in this game. Rice ended up being penalized 8 times for 99 yards, while UNT was only penalized 2 times for 16 yards. That's an absurd difference, based upon the calls I saw. And at least a couple of those penalties against Rice in the 2nd half kept UNT scoring drives alive after Rice had already made a 3rd down stop against UNT.

Let's face it. Poor officiating is a hallmark of CUSA. It just is.
