And if you click on 'History & Records' under 'MORE+' you will find a complete history for Metro State. All the way back to the 60s. Also the Dixie State '2018-19 MBB Information Guide' link leads to the current media guide with their complete NCAA era history. 04-rock

Yup. The Dixie AD is on record saying the Big Sky wasn't interested in them & that Dixie has no interest in the Pioneer. He also said he's willing to endure D1 independence, temporarily:

Have been impressed at how GCU & CBU stepped up to the D1 plate. My understanding is that those guys were already pretty good at D2. I'm curious about how Dixie & Metro look in basketball. Surprisingly hard to find their records from the 2017-2018 season.

That article is from October and states all the required meetings would be in early November with a decision by late November. As I write this, the calendar states December 11th, 2018. Any updated news on Dixie State?

You know what would have been really cool and useful, a link to all that info.

Top right corner to the drop down menu with the season.
My bad. Using a new browser & with cookies disabled, was seeing almost nothing.

Dixie looks decent. 18-2 in conference, 5-5 OOC. That includes a loss to CBU.

If I am at the site and others are asking about it, I like to try and help. I'm funny like that...

Kicked the can down the road. Now say a decision will be made in January:

Metro State has a fairly impressive history in men's DII basketball; playing in the DII National Championship game four times and winning it twice. And, Dixie State has rated among the best in DII annual attendance since 2007. Dixie State's 5,000 seat arena is second to none at the DII level.

But but NoDak posted a tweet from the football coach stating "big announcement soon". How could NoDak be wrong again??????
Long time no post, but been lightly trolling the past month or so given the recent announcements/speculation on WAC additions.

Good to see WAC in a position to add on a few more full members (Dixie State and possible Metro) following CBU. These adds will also help tighten up the footprint. I figured the WAC would find a way to stay alive, glad to see that is happening.

WAC isn't going to start FB so Dixie will go FCS Indy. They will not have a problem filling out a schedule as there are no OOC programs for the BSC to schedule. With SUU basically a cross town rival, Weber and NAU nearby, and a handful of other programs a short (<2 hr) flight away (Cal Poly, Sac, davis, UNC) they will have plenty of folks lining up to schedule them. Add on the playup and play down games and there is their schedule.

The challenge is that many games are set multiple years away. I assume they could play both DII, FCS and FBS. Their initial schedules might be sort of wacky (pun intended).

I do like the idea.
Central Washington, Dixie St, Azusa Pacific, and Tarleton St all seem like plausible candidates for an FCS WAC. UTRGV and GCU could start up programs and San Diego might be convinced to participate. That would give them 7 football schools and 12 full members.

Chicago St can be eliminated by not renewing them, dropping the league to 11 full members but I'd recommend adding another DII call up from Texas with a football program and doing the same when UMKC is either forced out or leaves voluntarily.

There's a path out there for FCS WAC that doesn't involve going to 14 members.

Seattle
Central Washington*
Utah Valley
Dixie St*
Cal Baptist
Azusa Pacific*
GCU*
NMSU
UTRGV*
Tarleton St*
D2 Texas FB school*
D2 Texas FB school*

San Diego* (FB only)

Your end game is 12 full sports members (8+1 for football). Should Seattle, Cal Bapt, or UVU want to start up teams they'd have an automatic home.

From those comments of the AD of Dixie State you can pretty much bet Dixie State is going to be in the WAC. If that happens I guarantee you Metro State will follow. I have to say I'm pretty impressed that Hurd has somehow kept the WAC alive.

Q: How does Metro St help the WAC’s supposed goal of being an FCS conference?

Metro St and Dixie St will almost announce in tandem.

A: Dixie St and Metro St would help to minimize travel as partners for NoCo and SUU in a depleted Big Sky.

So where are those Big Sky schools heading?

OMG, you get old, dude. This is about WAC olympic sports. FCS is like the 3,287 most important thing on the WAC's list. We need members for olympic sports, in particular, basketball.
Are we really doing this all over again, for the 100th time?

A fair amount of BSC programs still play a D2/NAIA that isn't scheduled until the year prior. Those can (and will) be dropped in favor of a D1 FCS Indy opponent in their backyard. The tricky part is getting the timing on the "home" part of the home and home agreement that DSU will no doubt require.
Augustana (Sioux Falls) trying to move up to D1 now too. Rumor is for Summit/Pioneer but if WAC FCS has lower scholarships, they could join too in football

Just a point here. None of your predictions have come true for years.
