I said to the group I was with that it was very important that UCF escape the LB today with their ranking intact. The display of officiating we saw during the game was well beyond what even I thought we'd see.

It began with the 2nd flag thrown in the game ... the PI against us in the end zone when the ball was already gone - had hit the ground and wasn't catch-able at best. It happened right in front of my group and the fix was in.

Then, all through the game, how about the refs allowing UCF to snap the ball without having their OL set for a count. There was one time it was so bad that they had to stop play and instead of calling a "Procedural Penalty", they gave UCF a free "do over."

Is anyone really surprised that there was a holding call on Henderson's game winner? Or how abut the no PI call on the last play of the game ... which, had it been made would've allowed Memphis to attempt the game winning FG on an untimed down.

I've officiated at this level, albeit basketball and baseball. I sat in the official's locker rooms when conference admins came in and "suggested" that due to regional TV coverage, or what the hell ever, we have a, "close, competitive game."

You could tell Norvell was livid but ... it's his paycheck. Even the announcers made some remarks post game that, "you're not going to get that call against number 9 when it means so much money to the conference."

Now, in the post game show they're all talking about the Tigers making mistakes that cost them the game. That is crap! The Tigers never even had a chance when they came on the field. I KNOW, I've been there! It's the reason, the singular reason I stopped officiating after 11 seasons.

It IS NOT about the Kids. It is about the money. Period. This thing today stunk to high heaven. But if you really feel good about plunking your money down for it - then have at it.

It sickens me.

Zero. But, if your conspiracy theory is any indication, my lack of officiating experience probably makes me better qualified to comment on this topic.

Nope - there's already been that discussion. UCF, after going undefeated 2 years in a row will not be considered for a slot in the 4-Team playoff. That conversation has already been had - and was leaked out on ESPN last week.

Like I said - follow the money.

Or ... live in the "Rah-Rah" world and enjoy the day.
Didn't UCF have over 100 yards in penalties? Yes they made a few very bad calls as you said, but I don't think the fix was in, but what do I know? We lost this game because of turnovers and poor clock management, the rain didn't help obviously, but we win that game if Norvell doesn't call a TO and they miss the FG or we hold on to the ball better, or get out of bounds and don't have a false start with 30 seconds left and no timeouts. Little things add up and we should have left the LB with a win today.
Or we win despite all those things if the refs don’t make that ghost holding call

Man - it's not about a conspiracy theory. It is about putting money in the AAC till. There was a comment made post game that the President of our conference was probably sitting at home rooting for a UCF win.

It bucks, man. This was the last best shot to hand them a loss - and it wasn't going to happen. Did you actually watch the game? Have you ever seen a ball snapped without requiring the OL to come to a 1-count set? No, the answer is no, you haven't. It happened all day long today. If you didn'r see it, them you don't want to see it.

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme. At all. It's just that everything is so fouled by money that it takes most of the enjoyment out of it for me. maybe I got to close to it and was privy to things that casual fans aren't.

And if you sense of self-righteousness makes you more qualified to comment on a subject you know nothing about ... I yield to your magnificence.

"Thank you, Sir, may I have another?"

You call the TO to ice the kicker. End of sentence, new paragraph. You have 1 left with 3 seconds in the half. You can't carry it over, the percentages rest with the kid missing the kick after being iced. It's not a great percentage it is does favor the defending team.

That was what you do - at every level of ball until they get rid of that crap rule.

Just rang it up on the DVR - it ain't there, Folks.
btw, the holding call on the td run was 50/50 in my opinion. Truthfully, I think they probably would've not called it against someone other than UCF.
BS
We had a 16 pt lead. If there was a conspiracy then we were on it.
Imaginary hold was BS. Look at the ref. He doesn’t throw the flag until way late and he’s not looking at the line. He’s looking at Henderson running in the open field.
There are so many who wish to believe in our great institutions ... honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. After seeing what we just watched in DC the last month, it astounds me that anyone could think the NCAA (among all groups), is clean.

Whatever makes ya sleep better I suppose ...

Had to see if number 8 was really going to score ...
