Signs two way with the team per league sources.
Awesome! 04-cheers
So this is a training camp contract, rather than a roster spot, right?

No. Each NBA team now has 2 'two-way' contracts. Two-way players are assigned to the G-League team, but get up to 45 days with the parent NBA team. Two-way players don't count toward the NBA team's 15 man roster.

Good news for DJ is that he gets NBA money for any of those 45 days with the Grizz. Salary for two-way player is $77,500 this season, but if DJ spends the 45 days with the Grizz, he can make a couple of hundred thousand more than the $77,500.

League minimum is between $580,000 and $1,600,000 (rounding) depending on number of years in the NBA. I am not going to look up what constitutes a "year in the NBA" but if he played in all 45 then he would looking at somewhere around an extra $300,000. Not bad at all for a years work.

Yep. Saw where DJ made around $300K in France last year - his team won the championship - so this is the only way it made financial sense for DJ to stay.

And the rules get technical. For instance, it's not 45 games, it's 45 days. So if DJ goes on a West coast trip with the Grizz, and is with the team as they play twice in a week, DJ gets paid for 7 days.

Also, once the G-league season ends in late March, the 45 day limit ends. So best case scenario, DJ could be with the team after that until the NBA season ends in April and make more cash.
Fascinating. Thanks.
And GOOD FOR DJ!
Can we expect the attendance bump that some here claim when taking shots at Grizz management for not putting Tigers players on the team?
Yes, lol I can expect it.

O yeah. I’m Happy for DJ and the Grizz and us too.

most here "don't like the NBA" as they say for not supporting the city's only major pro sports team
