Is it good news or bad news that Rice can ranked around 120 when there are about 120 D1 Football teams and still be middle of the pack in cusa?

I don't think it's even news.

There are 130 FBS teams. The "good news" is that Rice is not in the Bottom 10.

Also of note: in the 30+ years that I've kept these ratings, UTEP is at the lowest point of any team. Ever.

Is there a raw score for UTEP? And if so, how far behind are they from the next worst team?
Why the fascination with how bad is bad? Any team below at least 100 is bad. Does it really make anyone feel any better that Rice is a few slots better than UTEP?

Pure curiosity. Statistical outliers are interesting. From the Bills pulling off the biggest upset in a quarter century to UTEP setting new records for futility, it takes a special set of circumstances to completely and utterly destroy a normal distribution.

And you should know me well enough by now that being 100 instead of 130 gives me zero happiness whatsoever. Unprecedented success just doesn't do it for me...

123. Western Kentucky (1-3) -76.3443

If UTEP were to play at Alabama, I would set the line at 77½. Seriously.

And I’d probably be more likely to give the points than to take the dog.

What boggles the mind even more is that they hired Dana Dimel to make things better. Things that are more likely than Dana Damel succeeding (based on his track record and UTEP's) are Saudi Arabia converting to Shi'ism and Trump giving up tweeting.

Not me! I could see UTEP getting beat 77-0 but that half point could be key, haha. Saban is actually 4-9 ATS laying 42 or more. Gimme the Cajuns this week +49!

I would never bet with a line like that, but wouldn’t be surprised to see Bama cover. Of course, I still regret not taking France +31 (or even better, 16-1 straight up) against New Zealand on Halloween 1999. I forgot the LSU-Ole Miss lesson that strange things happen on Halloween.
Didn't Old Dominion just beat Va. Tech??

Much bigger upset than Appalachian State beating Michigan. ODU was beyond awful before last weekend, but that win could do only so much to improve their ranking (one spot).

Giving a team 70 points is pretty much saying that the only time they won't score is at the end of the half. That's almost a given for over half of CUSA versus Alabama. What you're saying that Alabama's defense is 7+ points better than UTEP's offense, and you've got a pretty good argument.
