I'm all in for that. Our fans need a game where we can exhale before the one minute mark in the 4th quarter. No complaint mind you; none of us would trade yesterday's emotional roller coaster for a loss.

Their fans seem confident this is a game they can win. Playing up there has been a challenge for us over the years. And their QB can definitely make plays and cause some challenges.

Thanks, Doss.

I don't see how. They are one of the worst teams in FBS and we've pretty much owned them over the years (11-3 overall). I'm confident UC beats them again.
We are still a young team and jelling. Away games will be more difficult as the season wears on. We are not going to surprise anyone anymore this year.

This is true, particularly as it relates to now playing conference games. I think though the wild card is Doaks. If he comes back healthy he give us another look in the running game. We should see shortly.
I'm surprised Thomas didn't get any carries on Saturday.

They likely want to redshirt Thomas. I bet we don't see him until late in the season if we stay healthy.
UConn has totally sucked so far this year.

...which of course means they'll come out looking like the '85 Bears against us.

UCONN has been stomped three times this year, but all of those losses were to top-25 or borderline top-25 teams.

UCONN's opponents record 11-2

UCF - 3-0
BSU - 2-1
URI - 2-1
SYR - 4-0

UC's opponents record 3-11

UCLA - 0-3
MIAMI - 1-3
A&M - 1-3
OU - 1-2

I also seem to remember that their stadium, "The Rent", has been a tough place for us to play over the years. Seems like we have laid a couple of rotten eggs there.
I know that UConn has struggled mightily, but it's hard to believe that we're a 17.5 point favorite on the road.

I agree with you. That could happen but Hartford hasn't always been kind to the Bearcats. I expect UCONN will come out with guns blazing at the chance to redeem their miserable pre-conference performance and knock off an undefeated rival.

If UC can withstand that initial surge (meaning, don't get down 21 points on the road in the first quarter) I see this as a win. But they certainly gave the Bearcats all they wanted last year in Nippert, so they're going to feel they can play us on equal footing.

Whenever I see UConn down and us playing them on the road, I think of 2007. This'll be a tough game regardless of record.

I'm sure you mean 2008...where our only conference loss was the debacle at UConn.

I understand how crowded the RB room is but I'd think Thomas is in that too talented to redshirt group.
Guys - we're 4-0 with a legit defense and we have a running game with enough passing threat and a running QB to drive DEE coordinators nuts. Are you really worried about UConn? UCONN?!! Puhleeese. They're a dumpster fire this year. This is not the UConn of the old Big East days. I respect Edsall as a coach but I think he inherited more a bare cupboard from Diaco than we did from Captain Cadaver. There's a reason we're 17 point favorites. Relax....

I'd love to see a strong start for UC and a possession game in the first half. The defense spent way too much time on the field last Saturday. Keep the ball out of UCONN's hands, forcing them to go three and out repeatedly; wear down their shaky defense from the get go.

Road games yield crazy results; rain, turnovers, blown special teams assignments. That's why they're called "upsets" when they happen. UC should win, but it's never a given. Just ask the folks at Virginia Tech after their debacle Saturday.
