Not 100% sure, but pretty sure Brownell and Clemson will be coming to Trask for an exhibition to raise funds for Hurricane Florence relief in the very near future.
That would be AMAZING, and a really cool gesture by Brownell and Clemson.
I guess this would be similar to the scrimmages that we played at UNC last year? I could be wrong, but doesn't the NCAA have to approve this?
I am pretty sure that they did not want this to get out until it was official

FWIW

This season, the NCAA amended the rule so that teams can only play two exhibition games (that part is new), and these games must be against non-Division I competition (that part is not new). If a team has already scheduled two exhibition games, they cannot request a third charity game like they could last year. Kansas and Missouri, who raised over $2 million from their game against each other, have recently expressed frustration over this dilemma.

It wasn't that many years ago that you could play exhibitions against non NCAA teams. It was pretty cool to see schools play the Harlem Globetrotters in straight up basketball games.

It's official. Oct. 27th at Trask.
Better than a game against Marathom Oil or Athletes in Action

The NCAA won't let you play Marathon Oil or AIA anymore! Can only play Clemson because it's an approved charity game.

That being said, good on Brownell for doing this and kudos to everyone involved for putting together the best UNCW schedule in years.

College basketball teams to raise money for relief funds, catastrophic events recovery through charity games

Clemson coach Brad Brownell told NCAA.com the Tigers gave up a scrimmage with Ole Miss to play the charity game with UNC Wilmington. He said Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis cooperated and found another preseason game.

“Fortunately, UNCW and us were able to make it work,’’ Brownell said. “Our game will be very good for UNCW and the area. They need something good right now.’’

Brownell said he’s in favor of a third game since coaches have even more time with players.

“Everyone likes to play so they can see growth and improvement,’’ Brownell said.

While i despise the NCAA, they made it clear after folks played extra Matthew relief games last year that that wouldn't be happening anymore. Clemson- UNCW laid out the road map for how to get it done, UNC/USC refused to follow it. That's on them. For once, the NCAA didn't let UNC have it's way, that in itself is refreshing!
CLEMSON BASKETBALL: Brownell returns 4 starters

Looks like we will get a very good early look at this years team's development on October 27.

Strongly agree with this. Really liked Alex's article on the subject.
Glad that Brad is bringing his Tigers to Wilmington to play in the benefit game. He's a good man, proud to say that he coached at my school. Once a Seahawk, always a Seahawk.
