I keep hearing the radio/tv analysts comparing Boise favorably to UCF while ignoring rest of G5. They keep discounting UCF as if the Knights never played anyone...and ignore the rest of the G5 saying how Boise has proven they can win vs the P5 when no one else has. Don't they know UCF won the Fiesta in 13 and Peach in 17??? The Boise wins over OU in the Fiesta was back in 2006 and they beat TCU in 2009 and Arizona in 2014. UCF has done more with Blue Blood wins than Boise recently and so has Houston. All the Big Boise wins were under Chris Peterson (the biggest in 8 years ago) and Peterson is not the coach anymore yet the media acts like Boise is just so good.
Boise is loaded this year, 18 returning starters. This team is very comparable to the ones Peterson had. They have a very good chance at beating Okie State.

You don’t think the Fiesta bowl is a big win? Harsin won that. How does that stack up to Houston and UCFs head coaching big wins?

The Broncos have been consistently good over their history, and it hasn’t much mattered who has been head coach. Jumping up from 1AA in 1996, our first P5 victory was in 2002. Since then, we’ve gone through three coaches who have cumulatively compiled a 16-11 record versus P5 competition, including the scalps of Oregon (x3), Washington (x2), Virginia Tech, Georgia, and Oklahoma. I don’t know of any other G5 team with that kind of track record. Maybe the national media is onto something when they get excited about the potential of Boise State; we’ve earned that reputation by being the winningest FBS program since 2000. So until you other G5 fans can put a feather like that in your cap, your whining about preferential treatment of Boise State seems rather petulant.
Well well , what do we have here, a couple of Boise homers here, well ain’t that special, let’s talk about potatoes...shall we

I want to see y’all beat the crap out of ok st, the g5 needs to beat the A5 on every field possible and the Hawaii game should be of big interest if both teams are undefeated going into the MWC CCG and so should the AAC CCG if UCF and Houston are both undefeated and then we have to rely on the f***king A5 committee to decide for us just pisses me off to no end

And let’s not forget that UCF hasn’t lost a game sense 2016 so this has to carry a lot of weight with the media, the longer this season goes with UCF undefeated the more the media will focus on them even though Boise is the media darlings right now
So one possible out come is Boise and UCF are both undefeated after their CCGs then I see UCF would have this long ass winning streak that would be more attractive to the committee and they would go to the NY6 bowl against an a5 team that would seem like a let down to us g5 folks
Another possible out come is that Boise and UCF play each other after their CCG to decide the real g5 champion and the winner can go play lowly A5 team in the NY6 bowl for some extra cash
The third and most attractive possible out come is for Houston to go undefeated and win the NY6 bowl
And that is no small potatoes
Go coogs

Well USF has Auburn, Clemson, Notre Dame, WVU, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, TEXAS tech, South Carolina, Louisville, and TCU.

UCF has Louisville, Baylor, Penn State, Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn.
This Boise team is loaded. So is this UCF team.
Blah blah blah. All talk between UCF and Boise supporters would be settled on the field if there were a 16 team playoff, all conference champs + 6 at-large. For now we fight over scraps leftover from the E5 table. Boise has earned their spot as a media darling from having a great record blue field and not being a blue blood. Unfortunately in college football the talking heads love to hear themselves pontificate and will skew any news to support their theories. This year they’ve selected BSU and the Broncos are set up well to justify that, especially if they win this week. I’ll wrap up by asking why is the NFL, even with declining viewership, so much more popular than CFB? Because everyone is playing for a real championship not a bias-voted, perception-made, computer model pick-a-winner-from-a-hat champ.
I agree with Vick here

I am sure other schools can give a similar rebuttal so no slight at them. I can only speak intelligently about UH.

Since 2002 to use your time frame UH has 16 wins over P5 teams. Arizonza (x2), Florida State, Louisville (x2), Mississippi State (x3), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (x2), Penn State, Pitt, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Vanderbilt

In full disclosure our overall P5 record during that time was 16-18.

Not sure what the quality of the teams you played were but we played 8 top 10 teams and went 4-4 (0-1 vs #2, 2-1 vs #3, 0-1 vs #4, 1-1, vs #5, 1-0 vs #9)

I can dig deeper and deeper into the minutia of this but the point is made, there are other schools that can claim similar stats.

And before you start touting overall records your quality of competition has been lets call it wanting to be nice.

It's a stat I have been compiling for UH (still a work in progress) but I would challenge you to dig as deep into your wins to see where they measure up.
Boise St is very good this season and has a strong opportunity to fill the Access Bowl slot. However, they face significant strategic hurtles related to geography (relatively isolated), resources (relatively poor state), population (relatively thinly populated), and relative scarcity of local highly rated recruits.

In the long run, Boise will have trouble keeping up with rival schools like UCF, USF, Houston, etc.

I'm pretty sure Houston has a better record vs P5 over that same time frame. USF P5 resume is probably better and UCF is the youngest team to ever win a BCS bowl and now a NY6 Bowl. Also, it would be easy to argue that the American is tougher in-conference year-in-year-out.

I prefer 12 teams. 10 conference champs + 2 at large. First round play-in. 6 wild card teams is too many.

#11 Florida Atlantic (CUSA) v. #6 Wisconsin (wild card), at Madison, WI
#10 Toledo (MAC) v. #7 USC (PAC), at Los Angeles, CA
#9 Boise St. (MWC) v. #8 UCF (AAC), at Orlando, FL

CFP QUARTERFINALS - December 15-16

Mybe someday... before I die
Rent free boys, rent free.
Personally, the whole Boise vs. UCF arguments don't bother me. All UCF can do is win the schedule they have, and see how it pans out. Of course that's provided we don't have more hurricane cancellations..** Things will work themselves out, one way or the other. There's also the possibility that USF can go undefeated, so lots of football to played.

Hell, ECU has 14 wins over P5 teams in this same time frame (+1 win over mighty Boise), and we all know how mediocre ECU overall record has been during this period (93-107).

Right..... that was the point (for Boise fan)!

They are at best the same as the rest of us but I would challenge their resume (ever so slight more than anyone in the AAC...) is padded having played in the WAC and now the MWC.

I have run the numbers for UH but I will wait for them to do their homework before we start to compare more numbers.

I could get behind this. Bottom line every FBS school in the United States has the chance to win the ship every year. Plus lots of money for everyone.
