Full Version: Is UC Marketing/Ticket Office the worst?

During the summer, I bought football tickets on the $51.30 special. Even though I knew I couldn't go to many games (my son pegged the o/u at two games), I bought six tickets to help UC when the football excitement was much lower than it is today. My intention was to, hopefully, give away the tickets so others could experience UC football.

I just received a call from the Ticket Office that there was a glitch in the promo. There should have also been a $25 UCATS charge for each seat. I have spent TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars on UC during my lifetime and they nickel-and-dime me for $25 for their error? No wonder UC remains outside the P5. What's next: THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR BEGGING STUDENTS TO ATTEND EVENTS?!!

As a matter of principle, I told them to refund me the whole amount. Yeah, it was only $150, BUT IT WAS ALSO ONLY $150 TO UC, TOO. How many Billion$ does the University have?

I have never done something as petty as this during my business career. For SIMPSON'S fans, it reminds me of Homer revised elephant pricing:

p.s. I'm sure this wouldn't have happened during Ash's tenure.
UC tickets all my life, never an issue with the ticket office.

If any UC Marketing / Ticket Office folks are following along I appreciate the good work and I'm confident most feelings aren't in line with this post.

Same here. They've always been the #1 best at customer service of any ticket office I've ever dealt with. Then again, I haven't bought tickets in 3 years due to living across the country.
Ticket office has always bent over backwards working with me.... The office has rotating students working there... Hope your situation gets worked out (at least it's a $25 problem)...

Little sympathy for being insulted by $25.00 UCATS donations.
Ticket Office has always gone above and beyond.
Ash was great. Brad Wurthman was awesome too.
I have had one or two glitches happen over the 20 years I've been a UCat/Ticket Holder but the Ticket Office always makes it right.

Complaining about a $25 donation seems pretty petty when you bought a Season Ticket for $51.30.

UC ticket office and UC athletic marketing are too very different entities.

I just had a hiccup with the ticket office this week with regards to my UCATS payment that never was recognized or loaded into their system when they merged UCATS and tickets into one system. The UCATS office simply would not pick up the phone, and the ticket customer rep was nice enough and apologized that he could be of zero assistance. Very UC experience. I know the ticket office has lost away game tickets for friends of mine going as far back as the Oklahoma game. And those crazy Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl hiccups. But honestly, they have overall not been too bad considering the standard expectations in Clifton. And yes, Ash was awesome going the extra mile.

But Athletic Marketing is infinitely worse. Linder Business School should be embarrassed with what is offered up for marketing. CliftonAve and I have discussed this problem for over 10 years. Way too many issues and not enough time to type. lol

First, I do sympathize with getting hit with a late charge that wasn’t part of something you originally accepted. That always feels pretty weak as a customer.

But here’s a tip for you, no one who has ever been really successful in business, actually brags about it, especially on the internet, because they don’t need to. I’d ease off on the self righteousness.
What was that movie with Robin Williams...The World According to Garp? Rommell Shorter can have the title for the sequel.....

must have been a large enough glitch to not just eat it and chalk it up as a business decision, which would have been the right thing to do considering the error & timing.
I'm not sure why you're surprised? Expecting UC athletics to operate like a P5 on a G5 budget is unreasonable.
