Offensively: we are starting true to what we are. A run team. Grind it out. I would like to see them use trammel more. He had big play written all over him. Stank had to give cephus a chance. His throws are bad on the fade. Ol is getting exposed. To look so wellwith Oliver last week were look bad this week. Every throw is under duress. Got to do better in the 2nd half. Our wr are horrible in press coverage. Ceph it s doesn't know how to get off the press. He's too good to have not been taught that.

Defensively: front is solid. We switched to a 335. Makes sense. Still very little pressure but we're are blitzing more. Our secondary is what's keeping us from winning games. Why are we not giving other kids a chance to make plays? I'm not seeing anything from the current secondary that says they shouldn't be getting switched out every time they screw up. The scheme is good we're need to find the right players to execute.

Coaching: still very happy. From what I see we're got some damn good coaches. Er need to get some players to compliment them. I'd they can recruit at all they'll be fine.

I don’t think we have many people to switch into the secondary.

Yeah I’m not sure humiliating players is a good idea for their foray into college football. There’s a reason why we have the current guys staying out there
Folks, I am LOVING watching what our coaching staff is able to squeeze out of our talent. Yet again we look competent!, and are hanging in there against superior talent!
And the defensive adjustments. Who knew such adjustments were even possible? 05-stirthepot
After runs of -1 and 1 yard, Stank scrambles up the middle ... dives beneath a lunging tackler and is down at the 1.

End of 3Q.

28-13, Hawaii ... Owls 1 yard from an 8-point deficit.
Esukpa is undercut trying to run over Owl blockers ... appears to be nanometers short of the goal line. Sigh.
First-play safety for Rice! Read-option deep-handoff nailed inside the endzone. Yay!!

28-15, Hawaii.
Austin Walter slices through the Hawaii kickoff defenders down to the Hawaii 35!!
Walter gains a bunch on a fake run then reverse. Owl fullback called for a low block outside the tackle box. Grrr.

2nd & 19 at the 44.

Short pass to Cephus gains little, due to good open-field ankle tackle.

Complete to Caldwell over the middle ... for 12.

4th & 6 ... Going for it!!!

Trammel over the middle ... complete ... zigs and zags for the TD!!

28-22, Hawaii. 11:49 left in the game.

Mike, you do realize this is not the game thread?
Two running plays leave Hawaii with 3rd & 5. Pass knocked away ... but interference called because the Owl DB's left arm was wrapped about the receiver's shoulder as the DB was jumping in front of him. Bummer.
3rd & 10 for Hawaii ... juking rushers cause a Hawaii lineman to flinch.

3rd & 15 ... short pass crossing over the middle. Owls contain the receiver. 'Bows will punt.

"Gaudion's kick went nowhere. It was shanked a bit."

We take over at the 25. 9:07 left in the game.
After Esukpa rush for 1 ... nice pass to Austin Walter for 11!! Yay!
After Esukpa 1-yard run ... Stank scrambles right ... nice pass to Trammel near midfield ... but two penalties on Rice. (Cephus called for blocking downfield a half-second before the catch.

2nd & 24 at the 23 ... Stank scrambles up the middle to the Rice 30.

Short pass to Cephus running horizontally. Tackled after 5-yard gain.

Hawaii calls for fair catch of Fox's punt ... but receiver doesn't actually catch the ball, which bounces high behind him and is downed at the 1.

Time for another safety, Rice!!

28-22 ... 4:55 left in the game.
Quick pass over the middle. Too hot to be intercepted. Wow!
Arrrg. No blitz ... 4-man rush. Quick pass right ... buttonhook ... caught at the 7 ... receiver steps out of a tackle ... then bolts down the right sideline for 63 yards!!! Arrrgh.

Maybe not. But I've said for years that I'd have auditions to find out. We need more speed back there, not sure we have it anywhere. But any offensive player who has speed and can tackle would be a candidate for me.
A few plays later ... deja-vu: Play-action pass over the middle (slant from left) ... then run down the middle for Hawaii TD. Arrrgh.

Going for two ... QB runs right ... untouched!!! ... into the endzone. Grrrr.

36-22, Hawaii. 3:01 left in the game.

OOOPs. just realized I've been posting to the wrong thread. Mea culpa.
I disagree we have others that can't do it. What's out there can't hold up. We are 15yds of the ball. We're can't content for anything. We're aren't even giving other guys a chance. None the less we are in the game.
