As expected many of the votes that went to SBC teams in preseason were probably of the "Here, lets throw them a bone and rank them" variety.

Still however, we have two teams receiving votes this week.

Appalachian State 9 votes
Arkansas State 5 votes

Troy did not receive a vote this week.

AState fans better take a picture, because there probably won't be any votes there in next week's poll, unless something absolutely strange happens in Tuscaloosa.
AState retained its single top 25 vote in the AP Poll this week as well. Only SBC Team on that list.

So let me see if I've got this right....FAU gets atomized by Oklahoma and still has 38 points in the AP poll, App State loses in OT to a top 10 and drops out.

Makes sense...
That was the old AP.

Boise State not being ranked is a travesty.

App State has a real chance to get into the Top 25 of the Coaches Poll sooner than the AP. The games against Charlotte, Southern Miss, and the Sun Belt teams are totally winnable for them.

What biggie posted is the 2017 Preseason AP poll. Notice Florida State at #3.

App still getting votes in the coaches poll and Arkansas State is hanging on in the AP Poll. My guess is that vote is being cast by someone who is aware of Justice Hansen and his background. I'm looking forward to watching how Arkansas State performs against Alabama. With your giant receivers and Hansen's arm, you may be able to hang around till halftime if you can sustain some drives on offense. Tall ask for Alabama but it isn't impossible. Georgia Southern hung 24 as a FCS squad.

Ironic that the AP poll is the one that doesn't have APP in it.

Yes realized that later. They need these things updated correctly. Damn you google.
Imagine if Arkansas State were to beat Alabama...

The college football world would catch on fire.

It's fun to imagine.

We'd spend the next 10 years playing the "Whose win was better" game with App State fans. That would be fun.

Not that its going to happen though. As Anderson pointed out in Yesterday's press conference. Bama's starting running back is bigger than every single linebacker on our roster... That could be a problem.

Well, we have a good debate on worst loss with Liberty and Central Arkansas, I think yours was worse. 03-lmfao

Sanders with Penn State was likely bigger than most, if not all of App's linebackers as well. You never know how things will go but if your defensive line plays well, the running back won't have a full head of steam to get going.

Going to call it, Arkansas State wins 34 - 32.
You guys talking about stAte beating BAMA are on crack or very good at sarcasm.

Technically that UCA team in 2016 was better than the Liberty team in 2014...COGS
So the good news is that App will play Troy and stAte during the regular season - and perhaps twice in a conference title game in Boone. App can't dodge anyone this year for sure! Looking forward to the games. I also love that App State is the second youngest FBS team in the country. So we still have some 'rebuilding' to do :)

IF, and that is a big IF, we can pull of another conference Championship I like our chances for the next couple of years.
