Perhaps you missed the article that everyone inflates announced attendance numbers over turnstile numbers. But, according to article by WSJ taking into account all data from last year, USF inflates them the LEAST out of all AAC teams not named Navy.

Regardless, we are all aware that the announced attendance number given is all tickets sold/distributed, not who actually attended the game. Thank you for the information, though.
Tulane with that MACtion attendance.
That wont be Memphis official attendance when all said and done. The are checking into it now and it maybe closer to 43k

no i didn't miss the article. just think actual attendance should be used for a more relevant discussion. i dont care what teams reported, I'd be more interested in hearing actual numbers from teams across the league. And i started with usf because that was the only one i knew, from following joey knight on twitter.
Memphis' will change by close to 10,000

Incompetent ticket scanning
One good thing about that WSJ article looks to be fans speaking out and forcing Memphis admin and the LB to get their act together. It'll be interesting to see if any revised numbers or guidelines going forward will be released. The issue needs clarification one way or the other.

OK, then I agree with you. I wish everyone did report turnstile numbers, rather than inflating numbers. But, sadly, inflating numbers has become the name of the game for virtually everyone.

Outside of Navy, no school reports the actuals. JK has a pathological obsession for getting the number from Tampa Sports Authority (which USF can't control), so that's the only reason you see USF actuals. UCF isn't reporting actuals, I can tell you that much.
38,640 ECU fans watched that abortion.

I have no idea why Scottie Montgomery remains the coach in Greenville. Hopefully, this is the final nail in his coffin, and ECU can go about trying to rebuild their program next year with someone who's not incompetent.
Tiger fans are unhappy with the LB methodology of counting attendance. There was clearly more than 33K in the stands in the first quarter.

The right time to can him is after the USF game. Hypothetically, they will be 0-4, and will be going into what should be a winnable game at Home against Old Dominion.
Attendance for Navy@Hawaii was 29,702.
Hawaii's average in '17 was 24,244 and in '16 was 24,328

You're welcome UH.

I agree, and I'm not sure why, but The University of Memphis is currently in the opposite boat. We report turnstile attendance, not tickets sold. That doesn't necessarily make it any more accurate nor inflate our number. We reported 33k for our opening game, which grossfully deflated actual attendance.

Digital infrastructure and scanners at turn gates broke down at game time and thousands of non-counted attendees passed through the gates without ticket scans. We were 42-45k actual attendance, STRONG. A blind man could see that sitting in the stands.

Conversely, I sat through the final 2015 home game against SMU in that cold, drizzly, wet rain. The actual attendance was maybe 3k. It was an empty stadium. The announced attendance was 30k. Assumably we used seats sold back then.

Without Attendance Standardization, I don't even know what attendance even means.

No you don't. This had been debunked in the Wall Street Journal article, (and frankly several other articles). No one does this. The WSJ got their ticket numbers DIRECTLY FROM MEMPHIS THROUGH AN OPEN RECORDS REQUEST. So, if they were wrong, they would have been corrected prior to being sent in or an excuse given.

Any photo taken from ground level looking at the stands is going to look much fuller than it really is or from one taken from press box level. Also, you have a lot of bleachers seats. It's easier to make a bleacher crowd look fuller than individual chairback seats, because 4 fans in bleachers can take up 7 or 8 spots easily, whereas in chairbacks, 4 people take up exactly 4 seats only. You also had end zone seating tarped off. The sideline seating looked to be maybe half full at most from press box level according to what I saw.

You did had a decent crowd for an FCS opponent. Congrats, it looked decent. I'm not trying to be negative towards your crowd. I already know we have our own attendance issues.

Years of sitting in the Stadium and observing actual and announced attendance in all **** storms of weather conditions.
I don't need Wall Street Journal to provide me an accurate count of butts in the seats. Thanks for playing.

Argue with your own school who provided the actual attendance numbers, not me. Your beef is with them, not me.
