I'm not sure how many care, but I like to hear where guys who were expected to be part of program ended up instead. I've posted a few in different threads, but I thought I'd start a dedicated one in case others know of where ex-Bearcats are.
Marcus Tappan is at Briar Cliff:

Quote:There are four linebacker transfers, junior insides Payton Bailey (5-10, 215) and Caleb Wilson (6-1, 230) along with junior outsides Marcus Tappan (6-2, 235) and Javon Woods (6-1, 210).

“Marcus Tappan is a University of Cincinnati transfer who is a really tremendous player,” said Wagner. “He’s a guy who can make a really big difference in a football game.”
Not technically a transfer since he never made it here, but Jeremy Larkin is projected to start at RB for N'Western this year. If only Tubby had picked up the damn phone during his senior year, we'd have a high-performing local kid champing at the bit to represent our city.

Thank you for starting this thread.

Ross Trail is at Arkansas State, which isn't too surprising since he's from the area and the Red Wolves recruited him out of high school. Curious to see how he performs in 2019.

I'm also interested to see where Ben Hutch winds up now that he's at Independence and it sounds like he won't end up coming to UC.

I hear you although RB is the one position where we are loaded.

Agree, but it'd be nice to strengthen the pipeline to the GCL. Hopefully, Fick is able to kickstart it.

We seem to get kids from the "cherished" GCL every year. Fickell's staff seems to be doing a better job of getting kids from highly regarded programs from all over the state. Not every GCL kid will want to stay home, and not every kid is good enough to play for us, but we seem to get a couple every year. Maybe Tubbs hurt things a bit, but I don't think those schools need to be focused on any more than others.

Agree for the most part, although I'd argue we don't really get the GCL guys as you indicate. We have always done ok recruiting La Salle-- get crumbs from Moeller, St. X and Elder.

I am happy with the running backs we have. IMHO Doaks, Warren and Tavion Thomas is > than or equal to Larkin.

I think UC gets the vast majority of McNick grads who play FBS football. Although they don't have the talent that the all-boys schools do.
Good thread idea -

He was so good for 2 years and then injuries and head.
Stumbled upon this from an OSU site (includes several almosts or might have beens):

Quote:Joe Burrow, QB (nearly a transfer to UC)
Burrow is probably the highest-profile name of the 2015 recruiting class to depart. Burrow was a backup to quarterback J.T. Barrett from 2015-17, and was in a tight battle with Dwayne Haskins for the starting job this spring. After losing out to Haskins, Burrow decided to transfer to LSU over the summer and was named the Tigers' starter prior to the start of the season.

Grant Schmidt, OL
The first player from South Dakota to play for Ohio State, Schmidt was an early departure from Columbus, deciding to transfer to Cincinnati in the spring of 2016. After a year in Cincinnati, Schmidt transferred back home, and is slated to play for FCS South Dakota State this fall.

Torrance Gibson, QB/WR (I don't think he ever enrolled at UC but may have been attending practices)
A true case of "what might have been," Gibson never appeared in a game for the Buckeyes. Heavily recruited by several top programs around the country, Gibson was moved from quarterback to wide receiver in the summer 2015, and redshirted that fall. On track to play in 2016, Gibson was suspended from the university, resulting in him transferring to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Gibson played there in 2017 before signing with the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos this March.

Joshua Norwood, DB (UC commit flipped to OSU)
After redshirting in 2015, Norwood played sparingly in '16 and decided to transfer the following spring. After a year at Northwest Mississippi Community College, Norwood transferred to West Virginia and he was credited with four tackles in the Mountaineers' opening win against Tennessee in Charlotte, North Carolina, this past Saturday.
QB Brent Stockstill signed a letter of intent to be a Bearcat in the class of 2013, Coach Tubbs first year! We was released from his letter and signed a letter of intent to play for his father at Middle Tennessee State. He is still the starting QB for MTSU (2018) and is the career passing yards leader for MTSU with about 9,000 yards. He's a sixth year senior and has played in bowl games for the last three years!

2015 UC recruiting class Mathew Drapper is a LB with the Chattanooga Moccasins.

Torrance Gibson hurt his leg in the last Edmonton preseason game playing at Wide Receiver! and at last report is rehabbing his leg in Miami. He might be out for the season. Johnny Manziel is a QB for EE but isn't playing.
