They listed it in today's football game program.

At Texas A&M, UCLA and Little Rock to begin the season (nothing wrong there - three NCAA teams from last year and I think both A&M and UCLA are down from last year). But it gets bad after that unfortunately.

TSU, Georgia State, McNeese State, New Orleans, Prairie View A&M, and SMU at home. And then that Coastal Carolina tournament before Christmas where they play North Carolina and Coastal Carolina, before a game at Incarnate Word right before New Years. That's the whole non-conference schedule.

Supposedly they had some teams back out from playing them, but unfortunately this schedule is not going to help us get an at-large bid unless we win one of those first two games. It may not matter if we win conference as we certainly can - but even if that happens with a great conference record, we'll probably get a poor NCAA seed.

I'd like to find out why we don't play UH. I'm guessing they're avoiding us,.
Thanks, looking forward to a road trip down to Houston plus maybe Collie Station this season.

The Women's basketball team will be the best Rice athletic team in 2018-2019 for all sports. I just hope we can keep our coach.
FYI, Rice officially announced the schedule last week.

Guess no one decent wants to play us at home (back at A&M for a 2nd year).
I think it's fair to say that we are having difficulty with the schedule because good teams are hesitant to play us.

That being said, it is my understanding that both Texas A&M and UCLA play us in Houston next year, and I believe that UNC returns the trip the following year.
Two comments about the schedule.

First off, I really hope they add an exhibition game. With the first three games of the season on the road, it would be nice to be able to see them play at Tudor before Nov. 20.

Secondly, I'd like to see CUSA adopt that same flex scheduling for the women as they do for the men's basketball teams. Perhaps the schedule is listed wrong for the men but why do they play 19 CUSA games when the women only play 16? If we're one of the top 3 or 4 teams in conference - which we really should be - then it would help our RPI to be able to play WKU, UAB, La. Tech., etc. again a 2nd time towards the end of the season. Title IX seems to have been lost in the shuffle when it came to 2018-19 scheduling.
Here are some thoughts on UCLA and A&M from an ESPN article back in April.

Quote:No. 21 UCLA Bruins

Coach Cori Close has to replace so much with the departure of Jordin Canada, Monique Billings and Kelli Hayes, the core of the recruiting class that brought the Bruins back to prominence. But the play of Japreece Dean in the NCAA tournament gave hope that the blow of losing Canada will be softened. Lajahna Drummer and Kennedy Burke, a pair of 6-1 forwards, are two more seniors Close will have to build around.

No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies

The backcourt of Chennedy Carter and Danni Williams is expected back, giving coach Gary Blair the potential for a high-scoring offense. Louisville transfer Ciera Johnson, the top-rated post recruit in 2016, becomes eligible to help replace Khaalia Hillsman. The decision by rebounding extraordinaire Anriel Howard to transfer is a blow that might be overcome if sophomores-to-be N'dea Jones and 6-5 Emer Nichols show improvement.

Note that Dani Williams (A&M) transferred to Texas.

FYI, it looks like you can buy season tickets now. $70 for one adult...OR... $99 for 2 adults and 2 kids.
We're going to try to coordinate an alum pre-game meet-up in LA. Anyone here planning on attending the UCLA game?

Bought mine the other day, and renewed my baseball tickets yesterday. Sizable price jump on the Reckling seats.
I wonder how season ticket sales are doing relative to last year. I think they should consider increasing ticket prices next year if this season is very successful.
UCLA is picked to finish 6th in the Pac-12 this year.

A preview of the team's first opponent, A&M.

Wow, the team is full of transfers.
Picked second in the conference behind UAB. Really could've gone either way. UAB returns basically everybody from a team that beat us and there are probably more unknowns on our side than theirs. Assuming Rainey comes back healthy, Smith is as good as advertised, and Mulkey plays like a top-20 player, we probably should be better.
Erica selected as pre-season CUSA Player of the Year, and Rice is picked to finish 2nd to UAB in the conference standings....but it's close with UAB receiving 8 votes to our 5 votes...

And you're fogetting about Olivia O., who is also returning from injury after missing almost all of last year. There's no question we'll be better, and much deeper.
