VB Preview: UNCG

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW visits UNCG for its lone exhibition match on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start in Fleming Gym.

The Seahawks open their 10th season under the direction of Head Coach Amy Bambenek the following weekend when they trek to Fort Collins, Colo. UNCW faces off with 12th-ranked Illinois on Aug. 24 and rounds out the opening day with a 7 p.m. start at Northern Colorado in Greeley.

The Colonial Athletic Association released its coaches' preseason order of finish and the Seahawks were tied with Elon for sixth. James Madison was picked to win the conference followed by College of Charleston and Hofstra to round out the top three. CofC will host the conference tournament in mid-November.

Saturday's activities will feature an Instagram Takeover by senior outside hitter Halle Hunt. She'll be posting through out the day as the Seahawks prepare for the upcoming regular season. Follow her at @seahawkVB.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW:

- UNCG went 19-12 last season and fell in the first round of the NIVC tournament to UCF
- Though the match won't count on either team's record, this will be the first meeting since the 2012 season
- UNCW returns 13 letterwinners from last season, including five starters - Sophomore Brynn Montgomery earned CAA All-Rookie honors last season … UNCW has had one player earn All-Rookie honors in each of the last five seasons
- Senior Halle Hunt led the CAA averaging 0.44 aces per set last season

After 3 straight losses on the Colorado trip the Volleyball team has won 4 in a row with a win against Campbell tonight

Volleyball ran their winning streak to 6 straight with a victory over Virginia in Charlottesville yesterday in 5 sets.

The Hawks are 2-0 at the Jefferson Cup, hosted by UVA, with one more match to go against Youngstown State, today at 3:30.

The Volleyhawks are now 6-3 on the season.

The next 3 VB matches will be held at Cape Fear Academy.

VB hosts Charleston tonight at 8 at Cape Fear Academy. We're currently on an 8-match win streak, sitting at 8-3 overall and 1-0 in league play.

VB lost to Charleston last night in 4 sets, falling to 8-4 overall, 1-1 in league play.

Charleston (4-0 in CAA matches) had not dropped a set in CAA play entering last night's match.

Charleston leads uncw 2-1 in caa tournament.
