Has anyone seen any practices to give feedback on the QB competition
IMHO we will most likely see a ”Guadagni or Peters” listed as starting QB when 1st depth chart is released. After a few games the cream will rise and fans will see where the talent lies in game situations. Don’t be surprised if a Frosh QB moves to #2.

Go Rockets!!!!
I suspect we’ll see multiple QBs against VIP or VCR or whatever.
Let's hope that we really do have 4 quality Quarterbacks. There have been years when we had to use #3 or #4 in important games.
Maybe we should sneak someone in for some intel?
IMO this Q&A is the most important to our success. I feel good about nearly all of our positions except LB and QB. We find some players and sky is the limit.

I have super high secret Intel but don't want to be the message board hero.
It's the short one.

I hope we don't see four QB's in the first four games. With the lack of experience this is one position game snaps are needed for development. Giving 3 or 4 QB's snaps would hurt developing a game tested #1 and meaningful #2 QB.
If we are leading by 30 points plus in the second half of the first game (and we sure should be) I do not want to see our starter still playing. We need to keep him healthy (whoever he is) for Miami and especially the MAC.

From past experience, I would say the starter will still be playing.

My gosh, I'm so glad you didn't list all the "tall" QB offers in response to my post. 03-wink I think you read way too much into pono's non-answer answer to the thread title.

yeah, bruh, was just having fun, not accusing UT of racial QB bias. imo, it's ok to joke about race as long as you aren't using coded language of racial oppression.

utrocks84, i would like to see all 4 QBs in the first month. there is a new NCAA redshirt rule that allows freshman to play in any or all of the first 4 games and then be designated by the team as a redshirt, restricted to practice play and able to come back next season with a little game experience and rs freshman eligibility status. it is a major rule change. for the next few years programs who take full advantage of the rule will gain a competitive advantage on the field. sort of like when MAC teams were ahead of the curve with the spread offense and up tempo pace. the league had some glory days and beat a lot of ranked teams. in time use of this rule will be understood with analytics and everyone will exploit it.

for the rockets you play as many of freshmen as possible as much as possible the first month. if one is a phenom you run with him. if one is clearly your #2 you temporarily rs him after game 4 and see if #1 stays sharp and healthy. if neither of the two frosh QBs are great right away-the most likely scenario-they get a taste of high level college football and will be more motivated than the kid who had to redshirt and never saw the field and is buried on the depth chart. it's a win-win. against Miami (Fla) i don't know but the other non conference games i platoon a lot of freshmen (not just QBs) into rotations with meaningful snaps. learn about those players, identify guys who are more ready than the typical freshmen and be able evaluate them and the rest better for their player development training and coaching. teams that don't exploit this rule to get real game time snaps for their new players through game 4 will be a little behind those who do.

It's a sore spot with me, especially when I see semi-local guys like Johnson and Jackson pass up the Rockets.

I really cannot understand why a local would pass on a chance to play today in front of friends and family when he’s going to sit on his can at that place up north or down there in the middle of the state
big time college football is exciting. toledo plays a blue collar version of it. osu and UM life it up in all its glory. easy for a 17 year old kid to go for that. UT has some talented local kids on this team, especially among the rising younger guys.

A lot of kids see college as a chance to spread their wings and get away from family and friends a bit. Football isn’t the only factor involved. Some thrive, some, like Koback, come back. I’m happy with our team.
