Reports are Aretha Franklin just passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer
41 years to the day the King of Rock n Roll died. Elvis the pelvis.

I know because I had taken No "off the market" 41 years ago Monday.

Connect the dots!

A great loss. A great-great musician and committed Christian woman.

Had the privilege of seeing her perform live at the Fox Theater in Detroit four years ago. She sang primarily gospel and witnessed to the audience. Moving.

That said, here is a clip of one of her most famous songs (non-gospel) from one of the most fun movies ever made:

Rest in peace, Aretha.
Musical legends such as Aretha Franklin are a dying breed. It's hard to pinpoint which younger performers, today, will make as significant an impact across generations like the John Lennons and James Browns and Michael Jacksons of yesteryear did.

They may sell gobs of albums, but the likes of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift obviously aren't and won't be cut from that same cloth.
