I have not heard that we have set a record for basketball tix. I know things are going well and we're getting a nice rebound. But I would be surprised if we are at a record level right now.

I don't think we set a record last season.

I wasn't sure, but according to Giannotto we did.

Quote:Last year, when the Tigers averaged 36,302 fans per game, Memphis sold a record 22,500 season tickets. Its average attendance (36,302) ranked fifth among Group of Five schools, behind only BYU (56,267), San Diego State (39,347), UCF (36,846) and ECU (36,727).

Tiger fans need to step up

I think he might have his facts incorrect on that one. Our home schedule in 1976 consisted of Ole Miss, Florida State, SMU, Auburn, Mississippi State, Wichita State and Tennessee. I recall RC Johnson saying on the radio one time that we sold approximately 30K season tickets that season.

That's possible. But we all know record keeping back in the paper-age of the 70's was prone to error. And since RC wasn't here then, he's most likely going by hearsay. Personally, I doubt we've ever sold 30k season tix. Numbers just don't back it up. Although if we set a record in the 70's, that would have been the year we did it.
