Marshall Football Begins Practice on August 9th


HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University football team will begin preparations for the 2004 season when the squad reports this weekend. Marshall's first practice is scheduled for Monday (August, 9th) at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

The Thundering Herd, the media's choice to win the Mid-American Conference East Division, is welcoming back 44 letter-winners from last season's 8-4 squad that finished second in the MAC East. Among the returnees are Davey O'Brien Award candidate Stan Hill, Doak Walker Award candidate Earl Charles, Biletnikoff Award candidate Josh Davis, and Butkus Award candidate Jamus Martin.

Marshall is scheduled to practice from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The Herd will practice from 9:00 a.m. until Noon on Thursday with the team's annual media day scheduled to take place that afternoon.

The Herd will open the 2004 season at home against Troy on September 4th at 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday (Aug. 10) practice from 3-6 p.m.
Wednesday (Aug. 11) practice from 3-6 p.m.
Thursday (Aug. 12) practice 9-12 a.m.
Friday (Aug. 13) 3-6 p.m.
Saturday (Aug. 14) on field at 8 a.m (practice at 8:30)
Afternoon on the field at 4 p.m. (practice at 4:30 p.m.)
Sunday (Aug. 15) from 3-6 p.m.
Monday (Aug. 16) on the field at 8 a.m. practice at 8:30
On the field at 4 p.m. practice at 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday (Aug. 17) on the field at 3 practice at 3:30
Wednesday (Aug. 18) on the field at 8, practice at 8:30 a.m.
