If he did that right now and started Trump bashing, the FBI would be completely crippled. Whether the guy did or did not leave his "partisanship" at the door when he came to work, this move would absolutely be taken as him leaning left in anything and everything Trump while he was doing his day job.

I guess that means he wont have FBI/DOJ counsel sitting next to him when he re-appears before congress.
