Out of state and have no dog in the fight. But.......ULM has officially accepted its name as ULM. They (the school president) officially gave up the fight to Louisana several months ago. A school has the right to call itself what they choose IMO. From an image standpoint, I much prefer Louisana over a regional name such as ULL. Especially when there is a school with a similar name. Eliminating one directional name makes ULM seem less directional and more significant to me.

There are definitely a lot of fans that would get all bent out of shape over this stuff. I don't lose any sleep over the name deal; but that is the direction my alma mater has chosen, so "Louisiana" it is for me. As an "older" alum and fan, I would have been fine with keeping the old USL moniker but simply changed "southwestern" to "south"; much like South Florida. It's frustrating the way the entire name change thing went down back in the 80's; but, welcome to Louisiana politics I guess!

I’m fine with being Louisiana-Lafayette academically, similarly to North Carolina being North Carolina-Chapel Hill or Tennessee being Tennessee-Knoxville. As long as we are Louisiana when it comes to athletics.

The University of Nevada-Reno was happy with it. Its now the University of Nevada. Totally difference with UNLV. The Vegas name is magic. To each its own and properly so.

There is of course Louisiana College. Fans haven’t given up, but President has. When your top guy gives it up tough for fans to keep up the fight. Bottom line is we need to keep improving our teams, winning games, and building our brand.
