Do we make a decent bowl game in football and do we get into the NCAA tournament in BB ?
So far, the two bowl projections I have seen have us in the Belk Bowl and Boca Bowl. Somewhat the two second best bowls in AAC per our contracts.
My opinion is we are much better than that.
I sure think the tourney is reachable. I am betting Penny gives some extra clout if we are a bubble team, to be honest.

Tourney doesn't work like that anymore. When they screw KY over most years, what makes you think Penny would do? Increase ratings? Not but a tick. It's all numbers now.

Can't really see a scenario in which we fail to make a bowl, short of a sudden massive unforeseen scandal. The real question is if we contend for the AAC title, and by extension, an NY6 bowl.

I see a bowl game in FB but until I see our QBs, I have no idea which one. I see us in the tourney for one reason if we don't get at large: the tourney is on our home floor and I don't think the Memphis kids will let us lose at home with berth on the line.
Where is the dividing line between decent bowl games and those that arent?

Yep on both counts
We ave just as good a shot of going undefeated as losing 5, so either way, we go bowling and as a Memphis fan, any bowl is a decent bowl!
I give us a better than 80% chance of dancing. Weak schedule, excited fan base for home games, excited players, old and new, AAC is down this year, and we host the tournament, so prolly so.

We would have to lose 7 to not go bowling. I think undefeated in a MUCH better chance than that.
But, could you imagine hosting BOTH the AAC Football AND Basketball Championships?!

Thanks guys and gals , I kinda figured the football team would/ should make a bowl game but was just hoping for the B.B. team to be ahead of schedule .
"Decent" bowl game? The Access Bowl is the goal - which is great, but a longshot. Otherwise, we will most certainly make a bowl.
Money & opponent: There are 2 bowls that payout $1M to each team and have P5 tie-ins - Birmingham and Military. We could easily get one of those, but Birmingham sucks.
Player & fan appeal: From a travel standpoint, Boca Bowl and Hawaii Bowl are best bets.
The other 2-3 bowl tie-ins are fine (St. Pete, Frisco, Ft. Worth).
Basketball is hard for me to say right now. I think we certainly can make the top 3 in conference, and thus the NCAA. But there are a lot of unknowns. I'm 50/50 right now.
I will say I expect us at least in the NIT - which is progress.
