In case you missed the news today, VP Pence just announced that the Space Force branch of the military will be established within the next two or so years.

Assuming they create their own academic center like the other branches, think of the possibilities for college sports! They'll definitely be able to take advantage of the untapped sports market in the rest of the solar system. We might see rivalries develop with the Toledo Rockets and Mars Hill Mountain Lions, plus some pro agreements with the LA Galaxy and Las Vegas 51s. Enough time passes and they may even be a charter member of the Asteroid Belt Conference. And if this isn't their fight song, something is seriously wrong:

Considering the relatively small demand for astronauts I'm guessing they will not have a university big enough for FBS. If anything, they be DIII like Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine Academy.

The division and conference of the Space Force Academy will likely be influenced by where the location of the chosen site to build is.

I'd imagine the SFA will be in some state with clear weather - I can see them in Alamogordo, NM next to White Sands. Perfect compliment to NMSU in the new WAC.
