I dunno, our QB has held us back since he took the helm, you may be right or we might actually for a running attack offense that is effective since we have a newbie QB. It is hard to tell really. FIU regresses due to losing a good QB. USM, not sure, you guys lost a few key pieces as well. I think it will all depend on team toughness on who wins it all, not really who has the prettiest pieces on the field. Defense will matter alot this year.

It is tough to replace your starting qb, but some teams can actually get better. We will see how that works for Marshall and FAU. USM is having to replace the heart and soul of our team RB Ito Keith. I am predicting a 6 win season for us. I hope they surprise me.

But for every game someone wins, someone else has to lose. Not your guys, of course. What CUSA foes do you see going backwards this year?

I am not seeing much optimism from WKU fans this off season...Reading posts on here everyone else is going undefeated so you are right.....North Texas will regress, mark it down...

I’m curious. What makes you think we’ll regress other than the fact that we won 9 games last season?

You won a lot of close games last season, that will be hard to repeat.....Plus Turnover usually catch up to you if you have a season where you really benefitted from several turnovers from the other team.....I see at least 6 losses on your schedule and your QB is like 5-10 165, one hit he's out for season...

We brought back our entire air attack from last season, and our defense is improving, based on reports from camp and the addition of key juco transfers.

As for our QB. Fine is tough as nails, and up to 185 pounds. Still light, but he is tough, smart, and strong. You might like this tweet from a few weeks ago.

It is tough to replace your starting ab, but some teams can actually get better. We will see how that works for Marshall and FAU. USM is having to replace the heart and soul of our team RB Ito Keith. I am predicting a 6 win season for us. I hope they surprise me.

With our offensive line intact mostly and our RB core experienced with all kinds of different running styles, I wouldn't be surprised to see us play safe, short passes, running the ball. I say this because of how dominant our defense is "supposed" to be this year. At Qb we have Green, whom is talented but obviously "green", Thomson, whom has FCS experience and injury prone maybe but seemed to be high on the list during recruiting. Honestly, I don't think they could do worse than Litton, for all the tools that kid had, his decisions was his downfall, played scared, threw off his back foot, it was frustrating to watch a physically talented kid do that. He single handed blew the FIU game last year and had a big part of the disaster known as 2016. Defense will win us a lot of games (circa USM of the 90s and 2000s) but our offense will have to prove itself and throw up some numbers to get us past our most difficult opponents. Miami Ohio as our first game won't tell it all, but it will give some insight to how the coaches are approaching the year. NC State at home will be similar to our Purdue game a few years ago, chance to win but gonna have to be tougher than they are. Defense Defense Defense.
FAU is the obvious choice since they did so well last year and are replacing the QB.

Marshall seems like a good candidate.

FIU...maybe?

I liked Litton but he was never a true duel threat. Here is what happened when Litton tried to run the ball:

Litton Rushing Stats
2015 48 rush att. 44 yards (.9 yards per carry)
2016 34 rush att. -133 yards (-3.4 yards per carry)
2017 35 rush att. 12 yards (.3 yards per carry)

Yes I understand that sack yardage is factored in to that but then again Litton was only sacked a total of 8 times last year and still only ended up with 12 total rushing yards.

Everyone knew that if Marshall had 3rd and 5 or longer that it wasn't going to be run by Litton. So by looking at the defense they could usually pick up if it was run or pass. When Cato was in there from his Soph year to his Sr year you couldn't leave the middle open or he'd take off with the ball.

I wouldn't be surprised that this happens the 1st game and half until the QB gets acclimated to being the starter in a IA system. And it might be the 1st 2 games of IA foes of Miami OH and South Carolina. You might see Cramsey through throw out somethings against EKU that you might not see again until the 1st conference game against WKU on Sept 29th.

If it is run heavy I don't expect it to be more than 60/40 run though.
