Alright folks after a miserable summer with out FB we are finally starting to see the light. I am more than excited for this season mainly because of what we have returning and the glimpses of young talent that we have seen so far mainly Steven Williams. If you got something to share throw it in this thread. I know i am asking for something near impossible but please please try to keep this thread to camp related news, videos and chatter. TIA -- 12th
How is Williams looking this summer? We will go as far as he can take us.

That is exactly what i was thinking and i am sure lot of us were asking ourselves same question. I assume it will take at least a week or so to even get a rough picture of where we stand and even then might not be remotely close to what we will look like at the end of the camp.

He is not a lock to be the starter....

Yea, I was a little taken back when Wilder made that statement and Ox and Harper just kinda looking around but ya know how good Wilder is at coach talk. During the spring game DA looked the best at the time.

He is giving him all he wants as far as a qb competition.
I really like Steven Williams and think he's going to be very good by the time he graduates. He still has major development (ball placement, accuracy, recognizing defenses, etc) he needs to do to become a great QB. He has athleticism which can mask some of the issues and buy him time, but I think ODU and SW would benefit from a redshirt season if someone else can step up.

I thought Drayton Arnold looked solid in the Spring. Consistency is key for him though. Can he do that throughout the season?

I have herad that this year's camp will be less fun and games than last year's and has a more serious, "If you're not here to get these wins, GTFO", tone.
I just hope the OL and others showed up in shape.
I have a high level of confidence that SW will be the starter and have an exceptionally good year. We just cannot afford to be uncertain at QB this year.
No excuses this year ...we have depth and experience. We are one of the top 15 most experienced teams FBS. There should be tons of competition in camp to make this year a success.

Sometimes the will to win is more important the ability to win.
Spoke with someone very close to the program today. He said every position is looking really strong. The only question marks are at QB and DB--due to youth not talent. He said if we can get consistent production from those two units, we're in really good shape. Arnold isn't getting 1st unit reps, but he's looking really sharp. SW has put on some much needed muscle. It's yet to be determined if he has taken a sizable enough jump forward to hold off Arnold. It was speculated that if SW struggles against either of the first two opponents we might see Arnold the rest of the season.

I think it makes a ton of sense with the ability to redshirt guys who play 4 or less games.
What about Isaiah Spencer? He getting any reps at QB?
I work with Spencer's cousin. Who played football at CNU. Really nice guy. I will ask him to find out how it is going for Isaiah.

If you go back to his SR highlights you'll see Spencer is very fast. But with an extra long stride. If he worked with a track or running coach maybe they could get him to shorten his stride. Get those legs pushing off a little more often he could have blazing speed. Then convert him to a WR or TE.

Pretty sure he came here because we are letting him play QB. Otherwise he would have taken that offer from UVA.
