I am very surprised with all the initial build up for the LU/ODU game that is nothing, nada, zilch about this game on the board. We've had more JMU discussion here than about playing ODU. No smack talk from ODU fans. Do ODU fans think this a down year for them and that they are vulnerable for a defeat at LU?
Maybe a mutual respect and appreciation between the two fan bases?
When we beat them and the acceptance stage of depression hits.
Game is a toss up, everyone is playing the smack game cautiously!
It's a toss up between us winning comfortably and us blowing you out.
Feel free to come by our board for some legitimate game talk or smack talk. We're usually up for either.

Can't wait for the opener!
I'm not into smack talk. I don't see the purpose but whatever floats your boat.

I am confident we'll put up a good showing against ODU and I predict a win for us but I totally understand why we shouldn't be favorites.
I say we win this one as well, for many reasons- 1st FBS home game, vs. in state team, etc. I think Gill will have the boys ready- he usually does early on. It's that middle of the season where they tend to lose focus.

Win or lose, I want a sold out Bill with a great game vs. ODU. One where the teams, fans, and school admins all say to themselves, "Let's do this again!"
Wonder what the ODU ticket allotment is? I hope the LU fans snatch up the single game tix when they go on sale Saturday. We need a sea of red rather than a large gathering of blue.

I could be wrong but I think ODU sold its 1200 ticket allotment and asked for more.

I think I read the same somewhere. I'd expect at least a couple thousand. 2-3K maybe. I know you can buy single game tickets through ODU now on the website. They're $35 plus fees. Do you all think the price will be the same through Liberty? I've been looking around for the best price, secondary markets you can get them for about $30 delivered. And when I went on Liberty's website you can get the 2 game package for $40 with no fees if you print from home. Will this deal still be available after single game go on sale? If so I'll probably do that and either try to catch the UNT or Troy game or if I can't make it get rid of them. I work with a Liberty grad and know a few others. It's only a few dollars more than single game tickets through ODU and I don't think the school is getting anything from the ticket sales other than the fees.
"The Monarchs, who were allotted 500 tickets to the game, have now purchased 1,200 tickets."

How about friendly banter if that sounds better for you?

2k to 3k would be a very good turnout for ODU. I don't believe if any other school has traveled that well. From games I attended, Coastal was the best in traveling in what appeared to be 300-500 at tops. Maybe the Richmond or JMU games at LU had more but I did not attend those games.

Sounds good.
Usually when there is any LU smack talk it gets personal and ugly. Like fwiw avoid going over on Reddit when it's gameday.
I support everything going on with Liberty, but pretty sure ODU is gonna give your boys a good ole fashioned butt whooping.

I have always respected ODU football and what they’ve accomplished in their very short history. They have a successful coach and play an entertaining style of football. The campus is nice and in a great location. And they have a unique mascot in the NCAA. Their football stadium leaves MUCH to be desired, but I know they have better plans for the future. All that being said, today, I’d say we have a fair-to-middlin’ chance to beat the Monarchs on 1 Sep. I hope that wouldn’t ruin their season. Also, I hope ODU fans enjoy the game day atmosphere at Liberty. Of all the places I’ve been to see college football, Lynchburg is my favorite.
