Oddly enough I never look at the "Important Threads" area.
too damn hot in Htown to post............................
Not really much bustle at the end of July Rice sports-wise.....

When do organized practices start up?

My guess is when that starts up the Rice sports boards will awaken from their summer hibernation.

Basketball is practicing (10 days) because they get a trip to Spain. Football starts next week I believe since our first game is a week earlier than normal.

Basketball is recruiting, all the coaches have been flying the last 2 weekends.
Football is recruiting with some kids on unofficials to campus.
Women’s basketball also recruiting out of town

That’s about it for Rice related news. All of these newer staffs are way more active on Twitter if you want to follow them during this quiet stretch.

Baseball-- you'd think Bragga would name his volunteer coach by the time the student-athletes return to campus late August, though Kopycinski is still listed on the official roster. I'd also hope Bragga is working to schedule a couple exhibition scrimmages (with UH, Sam, Lamar, etc.) as NCAA rules now allow two such scrimmages during Fall Ball without counting against the 56-game regular season limit.

Come to think of it, there’s a word for summer hibernation. Does anyone remember it?
