A former day care provider who hanged a toddler in her Minneapolis home was let off the hook by a judge who cited a "perfect storm" of events in sentencing her to probation.
Nataliia Karia avoided prison time despite pleading guilty to attempted murder, third-degree assault and criminal vehicular operation for hitting a pedestrian, a bicyclist and another driver as she fled from her home in November of 2016.

I don't have to click the link to read the story if your snippet is true. If true her sentence was not just. She should've been imprisoned for the years that child should've had left. What's the average age of death minus the child's age, that's the sentence in prison. Anything else is tacked on top of that.
Sadly, this same thing happened here in Orlando about 7 or 8 years ago. Got away with murder. And the ***** still laughs about it.

Karia fled in her vehicle, striking a bicyclist and dragging another motorist 10 blocks after striking his car, according to the Star Tribune. The bicyclist needed a rod inserted in his leg to avoid amputation, according to the newspaper.
I don't know about life, but this was incredibly light considering that she was found guilty of attempted murder alone. Even if she didn't get real prison time, she should've had to spend a few years in a mental facility.
When it happens again I hope the judge chokes on the words "unlikely to happen again"
A perfect storm of events does relieve of the consequences of hanging a 16 month old in your care.

She did 2 years, time served, while awaiting trial. I agree if you let her off she needs to be locked in a mental place for some time.

Yeah. I honestly see the judge's thinking when he mentions that it was a "perfect storm", but there are people serving much more time for much, much less.
What if she falls under more pressure in life? What will she do then?
