That's definitely a new one, and never heard of any of these players. Cindy and UConn make a huge jump. USF and Memphis completely poo the bed. Did he accidentally post the womens lacrosse rankings?

Rothstein is a well respected college basketball expert. Hosts a weekly podcast 52 weeks of the calendar year and usually has a big time coach as a guest. He has kelvin sampson on his next podcast.

He loves UCF but the major caveat ofcourse is if we can stay healthy, which we haven't done in BJ Taylor's entire career.

Basketball...I don't think they play that sport in your part of the Carolinas.

Also, Cane Broome will never be able to break out with Cronin as his coach.
memphis at 8 is the talking point on twitter...
I don't expect Memphis to win the conference this year but 8th???

Can you guys please put a disclaimer up on threads that don't involve sports.

Honestly, a Gregg Marshall coached team finishing 7th is a bigger head scratcher to me. I know they lost a lot but that guy will find a way to get 10 conference wins minimum.
Jon either isn’t too bright or has created some nice click bait. I’ll assume the best of him and say his prediction was the latter.

i guess he not buying into the penny hype train 03-lmfao
I think 8th is low, of course, but we do have some unknowns.

Heck, we finished 5th last year, with Martin out for a long stretch. We are returning our top 4 scorers, plus the 3 top ranked AAC recruits (or 3 of top 4), plus several others who should make the rotation. I think our ceiling is probably 3rd, but I will be surprised if we actually finish 8th.

2019 is the year we should be really good again, assuming we get Wiseman and Watford.

Memphis has better players ----- so there must be a huge discount for the change of coaches.
Ummmm. Looks like Rothstein just said he doubts Penny can coach.
Last year’s prediction from Rothstein:

1. WSU
2. Cincinnati
3. UCF
4. SMU
5. UConn
6. Temple
7. Houston
8. Tulsa
9. Memphis
10. Tulane
11. ECU
12. USF

Actual per AAC website:
1. Cincy
2. WSU
3.Houston
4. Tulsa
5. Memphis
6. UCF
7. Temple
8. UConn
9. SMU
10. Tulane
11. ECU
12. USF
10. Tulane
11. ECU
12. USF
He's always too high on UConn... usually too high on UCF too.

It is a stiff discount. One thing for certain is Rothstein will not admit errors, when proven later.
Couple thoughts...

-I'd personally rank Tulsa and Memphis above Wichita State. I don't buy the hype that Marshall alone will keep Wichita State relevant this season. Tulsa returns a lot including some pretty underrated players (Taplin, Jeffries, Igbanu). Tulsa could easily finish in the top half of the AAC.

-UConn as a sleeper? Idk. I don't think they'll be significantly better than last season. I'd say Temple is an "under-the-radar" team more likely to make noise in the conference.

-Seth LeDay should be included as an impact transfer.

-No love for David Collins as a breakout player? He averaged 16 ppg over the final 10 games of last season. Don't sleep on Ray Ona Embo as well.
I agree that UCF is the team to beat next season. Kudos to UCF. 04-cheers

Have you not followed his track record?

The Valley isn’t the AAC but I think he’s being given the benefit of the doubt, despite basically a whole new team. I guess he’s in the camp that believes coaching trumps experience and/or talent. Probably also why he has Cincy so high and Memphis so low.
