Let's have a different kind of pre-season outlook thread.
Which team is your "wild card" team of the year? In other words, which team has the widest range of possible outcomes that would not surprise you?
For me, it comes down to Georgia State and South.
Georgia State needs to find a QB and a primary back and that could put them over the hump and make it their best season ever or it could torpedo them. South Alabama also needs a QB and RB to fit what Steve Campbell does on offense.
I give the edge to State because Elliot has only had 1 class and unless they're going to play a true freshman at QB they are going to go with someone Trent Miles signed, which might not go well.
Arkansas State would be the least "wild" team. I feel confident they won't win 11 because of their defense and because of their tendency to stumble in games they should win, but they're just too good and their schedule is just too favorable overall to see them winning fewer than 8.
I put Coastal. Will we see more of the same as last year? Or will Moglia coming back bring them some W's?

Elliott recruited 2 full signing classes thus far.
The only leftover QB from Trent Miles, Aaron Winchester, will ride the bench as the 3rd QB. 100% guaranteed.

Chad Lunsford definitely skipped few steps on the way to becoming a FBS head coach. Doesn't mean he won't be successful necessarily.
shaky QB play. Not sure how much Shai Werts improved.
Not sure what to expect from GS' offense.
I wouldn't call Georgia State a wildcard team. To me, a wildcard team is a team that could do really well or really poorly depending on how the preseason ?'s work out. Georgia State won a bowl game last year and retained their coaching staff and didn't lose a lot of talent. I don't see them having a lot of question marks going into this season.
As homerish as it sounds, I think Georgia Southern is a wildcard team in the East and South is a wildcard in the West and for the same reasons. I think coaching will make a huge difference for both schools.
GS has talent as obvious by the high recruiting classes but the low level and instability in coaching has hurt us. South has lost a few games they could have won because of poor fundamentals which can be blamed on coaching. I think both teams will be fun to watch this year.
Louisiana. Cajuns have talent. Can they find organization?

The coaching was so bad under Summers, for me as an outsider, it's hard to get a feel for the true talent level on their team. For most other teams I at least have a feeling of where I think they may be headed, but I just don't have any idea what will come out of Statesboro this season.

I agree with your choice; just have the opposite concern. I think our talent pool is thin right now overall. So big infusion of talent is needed. On the other hand, I think this is the best staff top-to-bottom we've ever had. Going to be an interesting Fall...........

With Moglia returning to the coaching helm, it's anyone's guess for how that will affect their performance in games. Could be a huge boost for them.

I'm thinking Coastal will be the most improved team in the conference, maybe the country if Moglia has that much of an impact.
I voted USA because the Jags have hired a new, experienced head coach with a winning record, and a new staff, top to bottom. The defense returning is experienced and deep, one of, if not the best in the league. The offense is loaded with good receivers and an experienced; proven senior quarterback, with a fifth-year senior backup.Not to mention a phenomenal redshirt freshman, in one Cephas Johnson. The kicking game is outstanding and could be the best in the SBC. The OL is probably the weakest link and will be severely tested early on with the likes of La Tech, Memphis, and Oklahoma St., and then App. State, the 5th game of the season at their place. They should be ready to handle the rest of the schedule pretty well. Not saying easy because the Belt has some very good teams, especially in the West.

With our schedule, offensive line, running backs, this coach and staff will have to be miracle workers every week to win more than three games. At kickoff we will probably only be favored in 2, maybe 3 games.

He goes by Chad Lunsford or Coach Lunsford, Lunsford is also acceptable.
I've yet to see anyone put your your coach's name in the same context, so reciprocal respect would be nice.
Also, no one has said that he's the messiah. However, a decent coach should be able to get 6 wins every year with the talent we have. Also, it's not a guarantee that just because someone has coordinator experience they're going to be a good HC. Seen plenty of examples that show the opposite. I can also point you to a current FBS national championship coach that was not a coordinator prior to taking over his current team as an interim.
The proof is definitely in the pudding, as we'll have to see what happens on the field. Already there's a noticeable change to the same types of decisions and philosophies that have been hallmarks of our successful teams. Whether that translates to the field, we'll have to see.
All that said, I do think the criteria in the OP would point to us being one of the wildcards.

I hate that we'll be the first opponent to play you guys with your brand new coaching staff. There's no way to know exactly what to expect when we line up against the Jaguars to open our season this year. I attended the Tech/USA game last year in Ruston, and that USA team had a lot of talented players. I'm expecting a tough game.

We all know he was meaning to be snide. That's why he used quotes around "chad."
I didn't care all that much, but if I said that I didn't think "neal" was as good of a coach as Troy fans think he is and he's just gotten lucky so far, Troy fans would get upset too.
