So with the death of Raycom there should be no further emotional attachment from the NC schools once the current deal lapses.

Immediately it doesn't because we are under contract with them.

When said contract expires, however, there is no sentimental attachment remaining so we have no reason to re-sign with them.

Maybe. We are talking about the ACC and no other conference has shown the ability to miss more gimme putts than the folks in Greensboro.

It was acknowledged by all parties involved, on the record, that Raycom Sports wasn't a viable business without the ACC's set-aside.

This should put aside any concerns that Raycom Sports would be a further recipient of the ACC's welfare. So in that sense it's good news that we're not about to find that some piece of the ACC Network was set up for a Raycom giveaway to inexplicably fund them for another 20 years. They've obviously been told that the ACC isn't going to fund their operation any more.

Good to see the whole sorry Raycom Sports protection racket coming to and end finally.

The one thing Raycom did that I liked was actually produce some decent ACC bumpers for starting their broadcasts. 100x better than being greeted in the pressbox by Pam Ward on ESPN.

It could have been worse. It could have been Beth Mowins.

Beth is way better than Pam Ward...she is actually pretty knowledgeable about sports. She is an acquired taste but I don't mind ilstening to her play by play.

She's God awful! Even if the telecast involves Auburn if she is in the booth I turn it off and listen to the radio. She never shuts up talking about things unrelated to the game, and when she speaks about my school she screws up the information or flat gets it wrong. She at times has talked over a complete inning of Softball, or from one commercial break to another about something not related to the event at all. Maybe we just get more of her with the SEC coverage than you get with the ACC. We don't seem to get much of Pam Ward.
