Would like to see the Poinsettia Bowl back in the AAC mix in SD if the Holiday Bowl moves to the new Ram / Charger Stadium in LA when it is done. Play it in QUALCOMM Stadium as long as SD ST is using it or play it in their new stadium if the rumors come true that they are building a new one. It would be a great bowl to rotate Navy through with the Navy base there. It could be anchored by the MWC and BYU from the west, and the AAC and Army from the east. You would have quite a rotation there with those two independents involved especially if it was involved with a rotation through the Hawaii Bowl another Navy base and tourist destination.

Potato Bowl? I think if college athletes got to vote on eliminating a bowl, the Potato Bowl wouldn’t exist. At least the Detroit Bowl is indoors and attached to an NFL franchise. I know know, “but esayyyyeeem, the Potato Bowl is a campy tradition now!”

Armed Forces Bowl should move to Heart of Dallas (thee Cotton Bowl) and get rid of a bowl at TCU’s stadium.

Frisco Bowl? Why was this even allowed? A soccer stadium in Texas for a whopping 200k payout...

For the small-time bowls, I actually really like the Camellia Bowl. Mainly because it’s at a historic venue and I have fond memories of the Blue-Gray Classic.

Also, the Peach Bowl needs to update their logo. The T-1000 Peach is not appetizing at all; makes me think Chic-fi-la wants nothing to do with the fruit.

Thats a bit overbaord. BBVA Compass and its 22K capacity would be a very viable location for G5 vs G5 bowl. Center the bowl events around Discovery Green Park (dust off the Super Bowl plan from a few years ago). Base one team and their fans in the Hiltons Americas on one side of Discovery Green Park and place the other in the Marriott Marquis on the opposite side of the Discovery Green Park. All the events can be in the park, the hotels, or the adjacent Brown Convention Center. All these locations, as well as the stadium are within walking distance. Plenty of restaurants, theaters, and bars within walking distance as well (as is the stadium). The Museum District and Zoo are accessible by the light rail system.

Basically, let the teams and fans take over the Discovery Green area for a week in December. There are plenty of additional rooms in the downtown for fans not able to stay in the 2 "primary" hotels. Add a few free concerts with local cover bands at an outdoor venue in Discovery Green Park and you have the makings of a pretty enjoyable G5 bowl experience. It just has to be done right. You'd likely see some locals attracted to the area as well with the additional activities and crowds.

To me, the key to making these G5 vs G5 bowls a fun experience is to pack the fanbases into a small entertainment district, cater to that group, and let them take over that area for a week of fun and frivolity. It doesnt really matter where you do it as long as it stays reasonably affordable and doesnt require lengthy travel.

Man this is one awesome idea. How come they keep putting bowls in oddball places and don't try something like this? For G5 v G5, this would be simple travel, great FUN. Fans might not even need to rent cars!

It depends...if it was AAC against C-USA it may do well. And it would almost certainly have to be on UH's campus if not BBVA Compass.

The Bahamas Bowl needs to come back to the States so fans can actually attend. Not too many schools are going to have fans that can make multiple trips to that game.

Every venue named Bowl should host one in its namesake.

Move Bahamas to Toledo for the Glass Bowl.

Why would you move a bowl out of TCU's new stadium sponsored by a Fort Worth company to a 90,000 seat stadium in Dallas in a bad part of town? Our city has done a nice job of supporting this bowl. Dallas is ambivalent towards the Heart of Dallas Bowl even to the point of cutting off funding.

This is a very good idea. A large list of AAC/C-USA/Sunbelt teams would likely draw well.

That’s fine, I just figured the academies would draw no matter where it was and the stadium in Dallas holds more people.

Having a bowl in an on-campus stadium still seems strange, although it’s trending upwards. Off the top of my head: Ft. Worth, Tempe, Tucson, Myrtle Beach, Albuquerque, Boca, El Paso (?), and Boise.
