Football because it is a great underdog story and basketball has never been as far in gutter as football was.
Game threads!

I'm more for whatever Tiger Sport is in season.

Doesn't matter. All Tigers All the Time.

Football first. It comes first and honestly means more in the current college sports landscape.

Both. The football program is as good if not better than its ever been and the basketball program has been infused with all kinds of excitement and potential. Let’s enjoy the pleasures of summer and then it’s game time come Fall.

This, as I think you can see from the posts, was not intended to be a “versus” choice but a fun choice. Both teams hold great promise but have some unknowns. I was curious as to which team had you in the “damn I can’t wait” mood.

Some great answers. Football does have the natural advantage due to nothing but golf and baseball03-yawn (for me) on TV until football starts.
It's been more than 6 years since I've looked forward to a basketball season. Honestly I'd completely lost interest. Can't wait this year.

I'd give the edge to football. Planning a few trips down to Memphis to see the Tigers play. Mercer or South Alabama then maybe a road trip to Columbia, MO. I look forward to a competitive QB race between Moore and White. I hope to go into the second Saturday of October 6-0 to get revenge on UCF!
Basketball!!!
Both for Me. If Memphis is on the jersey I'm attending or watching. 901 blood in my veins.

agreed - college and pro
Hoops hands down. It's been too long since we actually had something to be excited about with basketball. Not to mention that we can dream of a NC with basketball whether that is realistic or not. Even in a perfect football season you are 2017 UCF at best.
Football, but I am not a normal UM fan. Since I grew up (and remain a TN fan), hated Tiger basketball growing up but adopted Memphis football after getting my law school degree at UM - I couldn't be more excited about the football season and the class it looks like Norvell is putting together.

On the hoops side, though, I have to admit I am sort of glad about the Penny hiring - I like for Memphis to pay UT (in basketball - I dread them ever playing again in football) and I want the Tigers to be good enough for that rivalry to be fun again. It looks like it will be.

sure you are, at least on mt.org - this board has always had more football firsts than basketball only's
It’s a proven fact that football fans have a higher collective IQ than basketball fans.

Google it.
Both for me. I want to see if Norvell can continue the momentum he's built up. I want to see the product Penny puts on the floor.
Football, even though I'm more of a hoops fan, because season tickets are much cheaper.
