Of course some will disagree.../s

It is good reading the tweets of the football staff but even better reading tweets of the attendees at the Specialist Camp today. The perception of Rice football does seem to be changing. One of the best..

Football definitely appears to be heading in the right direction.

Time to get some guys to commit... That said, I don’t think we’re going to have a huge class this year just because of scholarship allocation.
As these campers and recruits tweet their experiences at Rice I think it would be good if we give them a like. Seeing a good response to their tweets could add a little more incentive in considering the Owls. The coaches along with David Mooney are doing a great job retweeting the comments.
Maybe your post will be the nudge I need to finally sign on to Twitter...

Intriguing. He participated in the academic oriented Rice Young Owls Program in 2016 as well.

@4veronicapearl Wrote:Thank you Rice and UIW for great camps!

UIW = Incarnate Word? Is UIW involved in the Rice camp? Or might she be referring to different camps at both Rice and UIW?
Different camps.
Many schools are combining camps. About six Ivy League schools attended the Rice camp along with others last week (including Texas Tech, I think). HBU, Texas State, North Texas and Oklahoma combined on their camps last week.

Combined camps give "campers" a chance to show their skills to schools at a number of levels. I don't think Deion Sanders' son is really interested in HBU or North Texas but he was in Houston at the HBU camp (probably to show for OU).

Yeah, we attended the Trinity Camp in SA, the TCU camp in FW, and I *think* the Mercer camp in Macon.

Coach Smith said the other night that there were a group of 6 - 8 Addidas-sponsored schools, including Rice, who participated in combined camps. In fact, he said he was going down to a camp at Vandy this week.

Vandy is a Nike school, so you might have misunderstood him on that... But Vandy was at one of the camps at Rice a couple weeks ago, so there’s reciprocal action there.

But yes, I think there is some kind of cooperation between Adidas schools. Mercer for example is an Adidas school.
Didn’t need to start a new thread since it sort of fits with the camps. An article by our ST coach.

If/when Bloomgren leaves, Lembo would be a great option to promote.

If?

I think the consensus is that if he does well, he will get hired away, and if he does poorly, he will get fired away. Not much middle ground that says he will be here forever.
Looks like the football roster online has been updated. Now includes the freshmen and updated numbers, heights and weights.

I think it's been that way for a few days at least. There will be more updates I'm sure before August. The Florida transfer isn't there yet.

By my unofficial count, we have 101 on the roster and 28 of those are true freshmen. I hope people realize that and give the team some slack during the season. If you click on the bios, they do specify which new players are walk-ons and which ones are scholarship players.

What would be the usual number of true freshmen?

~20 scholarship and maybe 6 or 7 walkons.

So 28 isn't a lot.
