I used to skydive out of Marine City Airport when I first moved to Metro Detroit. I had a deal with them, I would fly the Cessna Skyhawk for other jumpers (I had my private pilot's license and instrument rating back then) and then they'd let me jump for free. It was a lot of fun, but eventually I started working on my Masters Degree and didn't have the time to keep it up.

Several years after I stopped jumping they were taking several jumpers up in a 2 engine, fixed gear, commuter type aircraft and they lost power on one side at takeoff and several folks died. I think only 2 jumpers made it out before the plane crashed. I knew several of the folks who didn't make it.
