Looks like the Lopes just got their first ever 1st Team Track & Field All-American in sophomore Jesse Newman. Newman threw a personal best 229' to finish 9th, (top 8 score points) but is one of the 8 American-born finishers, so would earn All-American status.

GCU Today mentioned he was second-team only. I hope you are right though! Either way that is a great achievement and Newman is only a sophomore.

Looks like the NCAA has changed the way they figure this out - it used to be 1st team went to top 8 AMERICAN Born athletes, which would make him 1st team. Now it does look like they are just taking top 8 for first, second 8 for second team.
