Congratulations to Ford. WTG!
Through 4 rounds of the mlb draft recruits that have been taken:

5 for Vandy
4 for TCU
4 for UF
3 for MSU
3 for A&M

Who wants to make a guess for the first round we have a recruit drafted?
Highest drafted hitter since Rendon?

28th
To answer my own question, yes. Here are our top 10 round draft picks this decade....

2017 - Glenn Otto - 7th round (pick #206); Dane Myers - 9th round (pick #281)
2013 - Austin Kubitza - 4th round (pick #126)
2012 - J.T. Chargois - 2nd round (pick #72); Tyler Duffey - 5th round (pick #160)
2011 - Anthony Rendon - 1st round (pick #6); Anthony Cingrani - 3rd round (pick #114)

Rendon is the only hitter in that group anyway.
Dang, you going to do Dup that way? Jon Duplantier, 3rd round pick in the 2016 draft (Diamondbacks)

Perhaps Fort Bend Owl took the idea of de-duping (normally a helpful step in data compilation) a bit too literally.
Sorry I was using this page for my source. It's probably got other mistakes too.

Congrats to Ford. Early 3rd round is as early as he could have possibly expected. The only downside (if you want to call it that) is that the Rays also picked FAU's Tyler Frank just ahead of him in the 2nd round. They are really very, very similar players. Frank is a slightly better defensive SS, and has a bit more speed, but Ford is a slightly better hitter, IMO. Both are very similar to Brock Holt, who Paul Janish compared Ford to in a tweet earlier today (saying Brock had more speed, but Ford is a better hitter).
The MLB draft is complete.

The college baseball reporters, including TV announcers Kyle Peterson and Mike Rooney, all made comments about the timing of the draft. It doesn't seem hard at all for MLB to move the draft a day or two (start it on Tuesday) to avoid drafting college players who are actively playing in the post-season. Hopefully MLB can move toward actively supporting the college game. Most of the draftees came thru college.
So we had one guy drafted and no recruits? And some people say the new coach won’t have to rebuild...
It's not complete yet, only in round 19.

To be fair, not every player was eligible.

Sure but in my almost 10 years of following Rice baseball I don’t recall many years we’ve had less than 4 or 5 guys drafted (recruits+players).

We had 19 guys on the roster eligible to be drafted this season.
Add 10 recruits who are eligible too.

Confirms we’ve had quite a drop off in talent.

1/29 does seem low, but some of our better players were Fr/So.
Salinas in the 25th to the Reds.

Whether a recruit is drafted/undrafted is not solely based on talent. If a recruit is staunchly committed to going to college, teams are highly reluctant to draft them. We are in the 25th round, and over 30 of mlb.com top 200 prospects are undrafted. Nearly all of them are high school seniors who are undrafted not due to lack of talent but due to commitment to schools.

Plus, there are still 15 rounds to go. Wouldn't be surprised to see a recruit drafted later today

Edit: As an example, Ford Proctor was drafted in the 40th round by the Royals coming out of high school
