Starts tonight. Who all do you expect to be drafted from your team?

For USA:

CF Travis Swaggerty is expected to be selected in the first round.
3B Brendan Donovan is expected to go around round 15
LF Dylan Hardy is expected to go around round 15

Also possiblities for USA:
C Carter Perkins
1B Wells Davis
P Tyler Carr
P Zach Greene

We will likely be hit hard with the draft this year. We also have a commit or two that is expected to be drafted.
Brandon Lockridge is a projected top-5 round guy for Troy.

Wouldn't be surprised to see someone taker fliers on Denison, Sanders or Crane.
Cajun possibles;

Hogan Harris rounds 1-4
Colten Schmidt rounds 10-20
Nick Lee rounds 10-20
Gunner Leger rounds 10-20
Logan Stoelke rounds 20-30
I'm expecting for the Chanticleers:
Bilous
Woodall
Lancaster
Beaird
Hopeck
As far as underclassmen for TXST the top prospects are probably 2B Jonathan Ortega and 3B Jaylen Hubbard, possibly P Connor Reich also.

As for the seniors, SS Luke Sherley probably has the best shot. UTIL Dylan Paul and OF Derek Sheible may have a shot also.
Peyton Culbertson is expected to go sometime in the first 5 rounds for AState. We might see Kyle McDonald or Brady Welsh get picked late, but it's far from guaranteed. All three are underclassmen. None of our Seniors are expected to be picked.
For GS 2 junior pitchers likely drafted and gone:
Chase Cohen
Brian Eichhorn

We were a very young team this year so all the position players should return. Of course with our .240 or so team batting average we could use some upgrades
Good news is we don't lose any fielders to the draft this year. Bad news is we don't lose any fielders to the draft this year. 03-banghead
Travis Swaggerty is selected with the 10th overall pick by the Pirates.
How often do high school kids get picked over ncaa players?

Very awesome to have a 1st Round draft pick.

Brandon Lockridge from Troy will likely be drafted in the Top 5 rounds. Selfishly, I hope he decides to come back for his senior season.

They get picked more then you think, but unless you're a high pick life is better in college then in single A or rookie league. Hotels, food, stadiums, even coaching is better in college then in low level pro ball. So a lot of them get drafted, then opt for college instead.

Thanks. I remember meeting Chipper Jones when he was 18 or 19 and playing for the Durham Bulls when they were a AA farm team for Atlanta. Just saw some baby faced kid drafted by Atlanta 8th overall and was just wondering how common it was. Do most of the higher drafter HS kids join collegiate programs?

We had a pitcher last year (freshman this season) hat was drafted in the 5th round but decided to play. He was the 2nd highest drafted high schooler to go to college. Most top 7-10 round picks sign and play professionally.

Regularly. MLB teams have to guarantee larger signing bonuses to High School players because they have far more available options rather than signing. To justify, they often draft them earlier. The other thing is that a High school player is 3 years younger than Swagerty, so in theory if that kid develops, the pro team is going to have three more years of him in his Prime years of his career than they will of a College kid.

I'll predict differently,

Harris: Round 3-5
Lee: Round 8-12
Stoelke: Round 10-15
Schmidt Round 20+
Leger: Undrafted
Good news for the Chants, is who is not getting drafted. The 93rd best player according to the MLB is taking his name out of the draft and coming to Conway next year.

Hogan Harris from the Cajuns goes #85 to the A's, current home of former Cajun Jonathon Lucroy.

Brandon Lockridge from Troy was drafted in the 5th Round, #157 overall to the New York Yankees.

My question is, does Lockridge have the opportunity to go back to Troy for his senior season if he decides to do so? Or is it too late for him to do that?
