I have good news and bad news concerning the super regional play. As the brackets are drawn the SEC will have 3 schools in the College World Series. We can simply do no worse and no better as all 6 of our super regional schools play each other. Auburn will play Florida, Mississippi State will play Vanderbilt, and South Carolina will play Arkansas.

Minnesota will play Oregon State. Duke will play Texas Tech. Cal State Fullerton will play Washington. Stetson will play North Carolina. And Tennessee Tech will play Texas.

The SEC has 6 of the final 16 schools. The PAC and Big 12 and ACC each have 2. The Big 10 has 1. And Fresno, Stetson, and Tennessee Tech are this years non P5 entrants although Cal State Fullerton is a baseball power, and this year's Stetson and Tennessee Tech teams are both capable of winning it all.
Florida, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Oregon St, Texas Tech, Cal St Fullerton, Stetson, Texas

I guess we’ll see!
Looking forward to Saturday!
Washington and Oregon State will represent the PAC.

Texas and Texas Tech will represent the Big 12.

North Carolina will represent the ACC.

Mississippi State and the winners of the Arkansas / South Carolina, and Auburn / Florida games will represent the SEC.

So SEC/3, PAC/2, Big 12/2, ACC/1

That's going to be your College World Series. No Big 10, No G5 and none of the other smaller but good baseball conferences represented. I think total athletic money is beginning to affect college baseball as well.
The end to Florida/Auburn was heartbreaking for the Tigers. It was nearly Jose Canseco minus the narcissism but a much, much tougher pill to swallow.

That being said, I like the field set for the CWS. While I always enjoy a smaller school in the CWS, this is a tournament with schools every layperson has heard of. The cinderella is Washington: 1st CWS appearance and a #3 seed. It could be anyone at this point and I wouldn’t be surprised. Every school is solid. If I had to place money on 1 school, then I’d go with Oregon St.

Just for fun, JR: I went 4/8 and you went 3/8. All that tells me is that neither of us should buy a lottery ticket.

I just enjoy them and never bet on them. Even though it was a tough loss it was a heckuva game and it looks like our pitching staff is going to be pretty well set headed into next year and most of our better bats are young.
Opening Day of the College World Series in Omaha:

North Carolina 8
Oregon State 6

Mississippi State 1
Washington 0

The bulldogs walked it off in the bottom of the ninth as Luke Alexander doubled to right field scoring Stovall from second.

The Bulldogs will play the Tar Heels on Monday night in the winners bracket and Washington and Oregon State will face each other in an elimination game.
Day 2

Arkansas 11 Texas 5 Hogs dampen Horns day after over a 2 hour rain delay with an 8 run bottom of the 6th. Woo Pig Sooie!

Day 3:

Oregon State 14 Washington 5

The score was close until the rain delay. Washington eliminated.

Mississippi State 12 North Carolina 2 Hail State!

State starts with a grand slam in the 2nd and scores 8 in the top of the 8th. They are 2-0. North Carolina will play Oregon State in the loser's bracket.
Day 4:

Florida 6 Texas 1 Texas is eliminated. Florida is now 1-1.

Arkansas 7 Texas Tech 4 Arkansas advances in the winners bracket and is 2-0 Texas Tech drops down and will have to play Florida in the losers bracket.
They are 1-1.
Day 5:

Oregon State 11 North Carolina 6 North Carolina is eliminated. The Heels choked it away with a putrid defensive and pitching performance in the top of the 9th.

Oregon State will play Mississippi State on Friday. They need to win twice to advance.
So I guess there's a really good chance we're getting an all SEC final?
