Heat sheets were released today for next week's NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The men will compete on Wednesday and Friday, with the women on Thursday and Saturday. Obviously, the multis will be on consecutive days.

In bad news, Hannah Jackson has drawn lane 1 in the first of 3 semifinal heats. The top 2 finishers in each heat automatically advance to Saturday's finals, along with the next two fastest times.
The women's Triple Jump will have the top regional qualifiers (1-6 from each region) in Flight 1 and the remainder ( Michelle Fokam ) in Flight 2.

If Las Vegas took bets on the events, this one would be "off the board" (pun intended) because no one will beat Keturah Orji (Georgia).
Decathlon (Scott Filip) begins tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2:30 p.m. CDT with the 100 meters. It concludes on Thursday.

The women's 200 semifinals (Hannah Jackson) are on Thursday at 8:14 p.m. CDT.

The women's Triple Jump (Michelle Fokam) is on Saturday at 5:40 p.m. CDT.
Wow, Scott Filip with a huge long jump in the decathlon! 7.78 meters/25'6 1/4"

You can follow leaderboard here. He's in 4th after 2 events with 1943 points. They have something called a 'w avg' in the leaderboard page which I've never seen. I'm assuming it basically tells whether an athlete is doing better than his normal mark for a specific event? Filip was +0.5 in the 100 and +1.7 in the LJ - both good marks but there are other competitors with higher numbers than that.
Nope, it is the average of the wind for events affected by such. It comes into play for records, where the average cannot be more than two meters per second.
Scott has one more attempt in the shot put. His better mark is 12.87 (42' 2¾") which is 17th best.
Ah that makes sense I guess. Although Filip's wind on his best jump +2.8 so you'd think that would be the only wind that matters. Good for him though - it's a new PR.
Slight improvement on the final attempt to 12.99 meters (42' 7½"), which, right now, is 16th best.
After 3 events, Scott is in 5th place with 2610 points, which is 103 out of first. They are warming up for the high jump.
TV coverage (live) will be on ESPN2 beginning at 6:30 p.m. CDT tonight. The final Decathlon event of Day 1 (400 meters) is set for 8:56. Scott should get at least a mention.

The winds on the 100, long jump and 110 hurdles are added together and divided by three to get the average wind for the decathlon. Right now he has a 0.5 (100) and 2.8 (long jump), which adds up to 3.3, divided by 2 is 1.7 (rounded up).
Hunter Veith (Wichita State) has withdrawn from the competition. If healthy, he definitely would have been a top-8 factor, at least. He was nowhere near 100% coming into the NCAAs, and decided to exit after the shot put.
Very early in the high jump - Scott clears 1.83 meters (6' 0") on his first attempt. I'm guessing that he will pass until either 1.89 (6' 2¼") or 1.92 (6' 3½"). In the Decathlon high jump, the bar goes up by 3 centimeters for the next height.
University of Houston's men's team came into the NCAAs with a decent shot at finishing among the top 5. But, they need to be running on all cylinders, and with Nathaniel Mechler having a no-height in the Decathlon high jump, that could cost them a point or two.
I was wrong - Scott did not pass at 1.86 (6' 1¼") - he cleared on his first attempt.
Tim Duckworth (Kentucky), the favorite to win the Decathlon, is passing all the way to 2.01 meters (6' 7"). He's really good in the high jump and pole vault (Day 2).
Filip clears 1.92m.

He clears 1.95m. Only athlete to clear this height so far.
