Now that we know the teams after Friday’s games, today we find out the seedlings.

1 - USM
2 - LT
3 - FAU
4 - Charlotte
5 - UTSA
6 - FIU
7 - Rice
8 - UAB

Wednesday
9 am - FAU vs FIU
12:30 pm: LT vs Rice
4:00 pm - USM vs UAB
7:30 pm - Charlotte vs UTSA
UTSA beat Charlotte so UTSA locks up the 5 seed and will have a rematch Wednesday night at 7:30.

FIU now locked into 6 seed
FAU game washed out, so Tech has a chance to get #2 seed
Rice at FIU washed out so that means UAB’s outcome decides the 7/8 seeds.
Y’all enjoy.
Tech is #2 seed and FAU #3
Seeds and pairings now set
CUSA Tournament tidbits:

- USM is first team to win 23 or more conference games in back to back seasons
- Rice in 2014 was last team to win regular season and tournament championship in same season
- 2nd straight year UTSA meets the same team in round 1 that they played to end the regular season
- the only change from teams last year and this year is UAB made it while ODU didn’t
- USM, Charlotte and UTSA are in same bracket back to back years as is FAU, FIU and Rice.
- Marshall, MTSU and WKU all 3 missed the tourney for a 2nd straight year
- MTSU and WKU have missed the tourney 3 straight years
- WKU has never made the tournament in its 4 years in CUSA
So it is official, Tech is the #2 seed over FAU?
Tech has to face Rice as #2, #3 would have been better
It’s really funny.. LA Tech has dominated us in the regular season the last few years but we’ve played well during the conference tourneys against them. Hopefully the trend continues, but I’m not hopeful.

We aren’t hopeful either! Will be an interesting game

When we faced LATech in the opening series, (this sounds weird) but, going in, I would have been happy to have taken just one of the three. We had too many injuries at the time and really hadn’t yet gelled. It will still be a tough opening game but I think Rice is in a much better position to be competitive against LaTech this time through the order. I’ll tip our game plan, we will probably try to go up by like 5-1 thru 7 and then hang on for a 6-5 win (hopefully won’t need extra innings for that).

Im assuming the higher seeds will be designated home team in first round.
I'm glad USM has avoided having FAU, LT, and Rice in our bracket. That's YUGE. If we face them, I want their pitching staffs to be depleted as much as possible.

The only disadvantage to that is “if” we happen to face Rice or La Tech in the championship they’ll have their Friday pitcher (or Wednesday in this case) ready on Sunday while we will be resting ours as we are in a regional already while those 2 will be playing for their regional life.

Nice. I just wish game dates were there along with the game times...
FWIW, Rice is likely pitching Addison Moss, not Matt Canterino on Wednesday vs. LA Tech. They’ve both been good, so no big deal.

Just look at the succession of times and you don't need dates.

First round Wednesday
Losers then winners on Thursday
Loser of winners and winner of losers in both brackets Friday
Winner of loser bracket and 2-0 winner for both brackets then second game(s) if necessary Saturday
Championship Sunday
So much for LA Tech finishing 2nd during the regular season. The Dogs now get Rice, and most likely FAU and USM consecutively as a reward.
