Quote:Folks, I know about rural white voters because I read a book about them. That’s what Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said at the recent Ideas Conference hosted by the left wing Center for American Progress. He said that this is how he prepares to leave the coastal bastions of the Democratic Party, who hate rural voters, when he travels into Trump country.

“I've had the privilege now of traveling to mid-western communities, traveling to the rural south, traveling out west,” said the New Jersey Democrat. “I read books like Hillbilly Elegy and everything I can to try to understand other folks, and when I read books like that, I’m thinking to myself ‘oh my God, these folks have so much in common with folks that live in my neighborhood.’”

Booker is planning a red state farmer’s tour (via Free Beacon):

Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) said in a new interview he is planning a "red state farmers tour," raising more speculation he will run for the White House in 2020.

In an interview with Yahoo‘s Hunter Walker, Booker said the tour of such states was not going to be a "public listening" campaign. He did not specify in the report which states those might be.

"We’re going to do it and not tell anybody we're doing it," he said.

"We’re not going to be doing it with lots of media coverage."

I am overwhelmed with irony that the liberals have staged what is called an "Ideas Conference", lol....
Please let the dems continue to advance candidates like this.
I don’t like Cory Booker and wouldn’t vote for him.
But the headline for this thread does not match up with the quotes in the article.
He stayed at a holiday inn express too. Surely that helped
I'd say his knowledge of rural Americans is probably about the same as that other NJ Democrat. 03-wink
He wants to do his tour with out much media so when he is totally ignored it won't be widely reported.

and he can say how "successful" it was
A red state farmers tour? Perhaps he'll discover what other liberals haven't, that food doesn't come from grocery stores.

He doesn't even know there are farms in New Jersey. Remember Green Acres and Eva Gabor?

They just have no clue how condescending they are. Its like they are reading National Geographic about some new tribe in the Amazon or an isolated African tribe.

No, he didn’t say that. This snowflake author (looking for a reason to be offended) said that. Total click bait, fake title.

It shouldn’t be hard for a Conservative to find legit stuff they don’t like about Corey Booker. No need to just make up crap out of thin air like this.
there's never been a better time in my 52.8 yrs for the dems to open their mouths.....

it's Xmas every day at this point....

They may not know what a farm is or how farm life is oriented, but they pass legislation with the scruples of Mr. Haney.

Stunning.

Though not surprising, it’s Booker.

Here's a direct quote:

Quote:“I've had the privilege now of traveling to mid-western communities, traveling to the rural south, traveling out west,” said the New Jersey Democrat. “I read books like Hillbilly Elegy and everything I can to try to understand other folks, and when I read books like that, I’m thinking to myself ‘oh my God, these folks have so much in common with folks that live in my neighborhood.’”

So while he doesn't say those exact words they are an accurate description of the gist of what he was saying.
I bet he knows his M-13 gangs on an intimate level.
By all means Corey, you and your liberal ilk please feel free to never visit flyover country. Please. The less of you around, the better.
Corey Booker saying he understands rural Americans because he read a few books is akin to me saying I understand black Americans because I listened to a few rap videos.
MS-13 are immigrants.

Title is inaccurate. Just as inaccurate as the medias account of Trumps words.
