Mike Slive passed away this afternoon after battling a prolonged illness. We will all be grateful for his service to the Southeastern Conference and the myriad accomplishments that were attained under his watchful eye. Perhaps the greatest legacy he has left us was that of civility between our member institutions and how we would treat one another as members of this great conference.

I have nothing but fond memories of this man and nothing but appreciation for what he has done for all of us.

I had no idea Slive was sick. Definitely was a great steward of the conference during his tenure.

I hope they place his statue at Mizzou. Missouri owes this man a lot. Not many had his savvy and insight.
