New Turf for Apogee

Thanks for posting. I had not seen this yet. Love that we are going to add the same turf premier programs in the BSC feature. Also, I can't wait to see them pushing dirt for the new indoor practice facility. Love seeing North Texas continue to elevate our programs.

I know some on here have posted about how bigger P5 programs will knock C-USA programs back into obscurity after hiring away our quality coaches, but I don't see that happening at UNT. The improvements being made and the funding being committed should lure quality hires, and keep us competitive when we are finally poached. Just my opinion.

Must be nice having that extra money when you don't have to fund a baseball team. I'm glad your program is able to do these upgrades. However, the other programs in CUSA that have a baseball team should see compensation from your school, until you finally decide to have a baseball team.

This is the dumbest thing I've read on this site. Every school has it's advantages and disadvantages. Every school has it's own unique financial situations. I don't think many schools are funding their stadium via the athletic budget instead of some university fund. You just reinforce the stereotype of snobby LaTech fans who feel they are too good for the conference.

Ha! I'd love for North Texas to field a baseball program, but right now, our AD has deemed that not in our best interest. It will happen down the road. And, North Texas won't pay any compensation to the other programs. Not going to happen. You want more money to spend, dump your baseball program. I doubt there is a rule saying you can't.

And this is the dumbest thing I've read on this site. Why should your school get privileges that over schools in CUSA don't have? Priority #1 should be to fund a baseball program and then you can continue with other endeavors. Until then you should be assessed a fine.

Nothing against UNT. Hell, I've been to games at Apogee when Tech wasn't even playing. I love having UNT in CUSA. However, you've been in this conference long enough to field a baseball team. I guess we will have to wait until the football team has a barbershop, and juice and smoothie bar before that will happen. The conference should force your school to do so. If not then go back to the Sunbelt. It's bush league that your school doesn't have a baseball team.

Sure, cupcake. UNT will field a baseball team when certain CUSA programs bring their “sub-30,000 seat football stadiums” up to capacity. You know who you are. 07-coffee3

Well at least our sub-30,000 stadium actually has fans. I was at your stadium when you played Marshall at home a couple years ago and the attendance was pathetic. The only time you can get a decent crowd is when Tech comes to play and that's because we bring so many fans. Doesn't matter how "big or nice" your stadium is when no one is at the game.

Once again, glad you're making improvements but the league should force your school to fund a baseball team first.

When you force WKU, Charlotte, and FIU to bring their stadiums up to minimum capacity, we’ll look into baseball. Until then, zip it about UNT baseball.

Psst: I wish we had baseball but the timing is just not right.

I don't care do what you want. I just think all schools in this league should have a Men's Football, Basketball and Baseball team at the minimum. That's my last post on this subject. Congrats on the upgrades.

No my friend it was said that UNT was going to field a baseball team when they joined CUSA. .

Did CUSA have a gentleman’s agreement or did the other presidents think UNT was going to follow through with what they said they were going to do. But UNT has not follow through on baseball team

It was actually the conference fault for allowing this. Should have been a written requirement in x many years or UNT should have been a football only member

Bullshite. Nothing against soccer but nobody gives a damn about it. That's a secondary sport to Football, Baseball and Basketball. I highly doubt any CUSA soccer programs have better attendance than our baseball program.

Lol, That because of title IX requirements. Why doesn’t Charlotte have sailing or field hockey like ODU? Title IX

That has nothing to do with why UNT does not field a baseball, the major American sport. UNT said they were going to field baseball team and issued press releases. The CUSA presidents gave them the okay and now they have reneged.
https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college...be-earlier

It all comes down to this:

Why did UNT said they were going to field a baseball team when the joined CUSA? All the other presidents okayed that as fair, now they have reneged. The fault is not having a written agreement but still unethical on UNT part

Go blame it on the folks running CUSA. Maybe UNT negotiated a waiver at some point.

And to “cupcake” throwing stones at UNTs football attendance being low a few years ago, you know, when NT had schit for a football team, why don’t you study La Techs FB attendance this past season. Not exactly sterling attendance numbers in a down year for La Tech. So don’t go throwing that low attendance thing at UNT.05-nono
BTW the stadium capacity was scrapped in 2004, why do you think all these schools have joined since then. Joe Aillet met the 30k requirement in 1988 now with the addition of the south end zone and sky box suites, the two wings had to be removed

I guess I don’t understand why you think that is so dumb? What’s the reasoning for thinking that? That a school should follow through with what they had stated. To me that is integrity and common sense. Dumbest thing ever not by a long stretch my friend
